Has Acura confirmed it? All I see is this little artical. Nothin on Acura's website, or Honda's.

Anyway, it's funny because there are SOOOO many 3.2CLs in DC metro area. They're all over the place. I guess they sold them all here, because if the rest of the country had this many, it would be Acura's top seller. I see 2-3 every time I drive around the area and often 4-6. And even more TLs.

Detroit News link--

http://www.detnews.com/2003/business...b03-127830.htm

New York times had an article on it and Honda on Friday too I think.

I probably see maybe 1 G2 CL on the street here per month. Pretty rare. See more G1 CLs. See lots of TLs.

I’m lucky if I see one 2nd gen CL like every THREE WEEKS or so.
But I do see tons of TL’s and 3-Series Bimmers every day.

I prefer it that way because my car is MUCH more exclusive then those.
I get quite a lot of looks when the car is nice and clean.

I see one or 2 of the 2nd gen CL's each week, of course they are usually the same ones (I see the same silver CL almost every day in traffic on route 195 going into Providence, RI).

I like the fact that you don't see many CL's. Now that the 7th gen Accord is becoming more common on the roads, it won't be long until every Tom, Dick, and Harry has one.

There's a fair amount of second generation CLs around Philadelphia, both CL-P and CL-S. I don't see too many 2003s. For whatever reason, there are three other CL-S that I see parked around my neighborhood (two in residences and one at a business). The second gen CL is still a rather unusual car and is far less ubiquitous then 3 and 5 series BMWs, Audi A4s, or any Mercedes.

TL-Ps and MDXs are obviously Acuras hot sellers from just looking around and seeing what's being driven/parked.

if it is indeed true that there were only 2700 6 speed CL-S made and no more are planned for production at all, that will be a pretty rare car. not to mention that inevetablly a certain percentage of those 2700 will be destroyed in accidents, fires, floods, etc. so over the next 10 years, i wouldnt be surprised if 200 or more of the CL-S 6 speeds were destoryed, thereby bringing the number of existing units down to around 2500...or less even, depending on how bad CL-S drivers really are or how unlucky they are. it is hard to say however if the car will become a collectors item, as there are many other cars on the road that are rare (2500 in existance or less) that dont demand a premium price at all. if nothing else, the rarity of the 6 speed should at least slow down the horrible resale value of the CL-S for you guys with the manual. i agree though, one of the coolest things about owning my CL-S was having a prett rare car, i always still keep an eye out for CL-S and see maybe 1 or 2 a week, if that. i loved the unique factor of the CL-S.

Unfortunately I think you are right. Among other things, the marketing for this car has always kinda sucked.. But I *do* like driving something unique. It seems like Acura couldnt' decide where to position this car--luxury or performance. I like the RSX but it seems a little to "light" for my tastes. It'd be a great fun-driving car.. but there's lots to choose from: S2000, NSX, Civic Type-R, etc.

I've owned/driven a lot of accords over the years.. Had a '98 v6 and *loved* it. But had to get a new car this year since the lease was up.. Anyhow, Honda totally lost me with the new Accord design. I can't believe Honda (IMHO) absolutely ruined the styling of that car :thumbsdn: . So I shopped around.

I'd always kept an eye on the CLS and I kinda wanted to get it anyhow. So I got the '03 CLS/Navi and so far like the car a lot. I've got the 7-year ext. warr BC of the tranny. But after this I don't see anything in the Honda/Acura lineup that appeals.

In 5-7 years hopefully there will something good out BC right now there's not much that I'm excited about.

Anyow, sorry for the long-winded post . It just sucks to see "our" model "killed off" by Honda/Acura. It's really a great car and it'll be sad to see it gone. :'(

There are a fair number of CLs in the DC metro area. There are bunches of young professionals with cash to burn. But you also see loads of BMWs, Audis, Boxsters, MBs etc.

Cool!

Is it true guys that anthracite color was only introduced in Jan. 2003???? I figure, that would make my anthracite 6sp Navi CL even more unique.

When did CL'03 production start btw?

Oh well.

I think production of the '03s started in April or May of 2002, I got mine in May of 2002. This car is the best I have owned.

I think the Acura CL just needed better styling, the biggest complaint I hear is the bland styling. I think the TSX looks good though, certainly better than the Accord. And remember the transmission death toll is only 4% of the population of course it seems those 4% need at least 2 transmissions.

No, it was earlier then that.
I picked up mine on March 15th 2002 and it has a February build date.

I think they should just make the CL a convertible. Solara is the only other competion in the general price range if you want Japanese. Sebring is getting uglier and still not reliable enough for me. Eclipse has a lousy back seat, not as roomy. They could go the the sporty 4 seat vert market for a decent price niche. I would seriously consider trading up to that.

Good idea, but I think there would need to be some body style changes. Someone photochopped a CL covertible a while ago and it didn't look too good.
