Isolated or not ????????????????
Just wanted to share with you guys the latest thread on a RL board that I READ:
Then:
Glad I bought the last of the 8 year production 04 RL ! LMAO........
Today while getting my car serviced I saw a 05 RL on the lift. I asked what happened and they said that the AWD locked up. Service guy also said that a few guys flew in from Japan to take a look at it. I will see if its still there by tomorrow. It was purpleish in color
Same thing happened to me this morning. Took delivery yesterday (Tues) evening at 7:30p. SH-AWD warning light came on within 10 miles of dealership. Went ahead and took behicle home and then planned to bring back to the dealership (service) first thing on Wed. Within 4 miles of home, the SH-AWD warning light came on again. Note that this was not the pull over immediatly warning light but just a "there could be a problem...check with dealer at your convience" type of warning light.
Then car then felt like it downshifted and then started to shake and jerk from the rear wheels. It's as almost some of the wheels were locking up. I then decided (good idea) to pull over and then noticed a cloud of smoke coming out from the rear of the car.
Car was then picked up (via Acura Roadside Assistance) on a flatbed and taken back to the dealership. Dealership folks were nice and understood my frustration. A regional Acura Rep is due in today and if parts need to be replaced (which I bet they will) should be replaced with new since the car is so new there are no any remanufactured parts available yet.

My guess is that there is a lot of bad AWD components. I'll post a update as soon as I get a response from the dealership.
Then:
just as i suspected..this new SH-AWD system is going to be a huge pain, probably for some years to come..watch the SH-AWD be to the RL as the tranny issue is to the TL..Does acura rush to bring products to the market without the necessary testing..I wonder...And why they didn't use the AWD system from the MDX is beyond me, at least that system has been out on the market for several years and seems to be tried and true..If i spent 50 large and the AWD locked up within the first few days/weeks/months of owning the car, I would be so disappointed that i spent money on acura.

I didn't even know there was an RL board out there...interesting stuff though, I'm sure it's something we'll all hear about sooner or later if it's a bigger issue. How many 05RL's have been sold so far?

I hear they are selling them like hot cakes to yuppies as opposed to old farts as the 1 gen was targeted to ! I'm just glad I did my home work and bought the "old fart" 04 RL (Legend technology-1990's that works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

wow this could be tragic for Acura if this turns out to be as common as the 5AT tranny issue .. but damn thats a record, burned up 4 miles from the dealer. thats faster than most trannys (but not all)

I was at my local Delray Acura dealership today and asked if they had any new RL's that I could look at and take for a ride. They said they had 8 in yesterday and they all sold the SAME day they were brought in. It would of been funny if I was on my way home and saw them all lines up smoking.
