iPOD install with *pictures*

Well, I have had my iPOD install done for a while now, but I did not take any new pics. So I finally got off my ass and did so. Here is what it looks like, let me know what you think.

I have a 20GB G3 iPOD and I used the dock, a belkin power adapter (in armrest) and a blitzsafe adpater. So when the car is running the iPOD is charging.

check it out the pics below:

Later,
Art

Very nice and clean install. I am looking to add an Ipod to my system in the near future. Was it hard to connect? How is the sound quality? And do you have the charger molded into the cupholder?

I like that setup, especially the auto charging thing.

Well it was not as easy as I thought it was going to be...first you have to cut the hell out of both the cup holde and the dock, but with some persistance you can make it work. the charger connects to the connector on the back of the dock...and the sound comes from the lineout on the back of the dock. The line out is nice becuase it produces a consistant sound for every song...no need to change the volume on the iPOD (it is disbaled when you use the line out anyway) for each song.

looks good man. I did the exact same install with my dell jukebox. I'll put up a pic later...

you had to cut the cup holder and the dock? belkin makes a dock that fits right into the cupholder for the jukebox...I'm pretty sure they had one for the ipod too.

I looked at that but try closing the cup holder cover with that thing in there...the major point was to not have to remove a bunch of stuff when getting out of the car. Now, all I have to do is remove the iPOD and close the cover...no other evidence. I really wanted to make it easy, but it turned out a little bit harder.

Ah I see. I was thinking about your install and thats actually really nice. You are right... I can't close the cupholder cover with that thing in there, plus there is a wire running behind it. Its kind of a pain in the ass to disconnect and move stuff around if I want that cover closed. I wish I could just click mine into the dock.

Good work.

That looks quite nice. I was thinking of doing the same thing but since my new head unit controls and displays the ipod directly I'm just gonna stick in the glovebox. Very nice job

The simple answer is yes...all the blitzsafe does is provide rca's out of your head unit..you could plug anything with rca's into it.

I assume that you are a stand up comic working on some new material...MD player are you serious? You do relaize that you can put up to 40GB of music on a iPOD, that would be a lot of Mini Disk's.

Do you want to try my 8-track walkman, or maybe my rotory dial cell phone?...sounds like that might be right up your alley.

thanks for the input...

If anyone is also an iPod user and you want the Bimmer type option in your car.

Dension USA makes kits for the iPod just like the Bimmer kit for most cars.
Check them out, they may have a CL Acura kit, I know they have a Honda kit.

Then you can have some control over the iPod via the Changer controls.

Unless you have an aftermarket deck that has RCA's already you are going to need something like a blitz-safe...

yeah the dell is chunkier than the ipod. if this free ipod thing works out I'll probably swap

its easy to change songs, yeah....but I'm not all that happy with this thing. there is a delay when you switch songs or move through the menus. its really annoying. and to shut it down you have to hold the power button for 5 seconds. it drives me nuts. 5 seconds is a long time to hold a button every time you get out of the car.

I only had to use one cup holder for the iPod...so passenger's use thier lap to hold their drinks.

Since no one is allowed to have drinks in my car, and I hardly ever have passengers...it works out pretty well.

I usually drink bottled water so I just put the top on it and keep it on the passenger seat. If I ever need to put anything in a cupholder i fold down the thing in between the back seats and use that.

the sound quality on MD is worlds ahead of mp3. MD is even higher quality than cd's, because they are sampleded at a higher freq, and the sound cards included are typically a lot better then an ipod. also, MD is more popular in other cocuntries, like japan.

hes probably saying it because the MD is just going ot sound better, especialy with a nice system

Ok...I'm somewhat confused...

I am the new proud owner of a blue iPod mini. Early x-mas gift Anyhow, I've been reading and reading eveyr blitzsafe and icleink thread. What I'm getting is that you plug the Blitzsafe into the back of the stock head unit, and then I get lost. I heard something about having to get another wire that connects to the blitzsafe, which THEN connects to the iPod? Am I wrong? Or is it just the Stock headunit -> blitzsafe -> iPod?

Next, I like the guys install of the ipod w/ the icelink...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ight=blitzsafe

He has his ipod hooked up to some sort of a clip on the center console trim. I like that idea. However, I've got an iPod mini, so I don't know if the clips fit the iPod mini?

So here's what I'm asking: What EXACTLY do I need to buy to hook up my iPod to the car? Any help would be appreciated!!!

`John
