50% up front. Im running 35% in the rear and 50% up front. It matches pretty nicely. Its not too crazy. Im sure you can get away with 35% up front.

Hmm, I have that same combo on my car. And cali's law is no front tint. Cops dont hassle you and you get good visibility at night still with the 35%. Although I wouldnt mind going a bit darker for the backs, maybe like a 30-25 if they have something like that.

Id love to go darker, but I have bad luck with cops (re: 8 tickets, 4 suspensions, in 4 years). IIRC the tint cost me $160 or so. It took them about 2 hours to do and the tint is nice and thick. They warranty their work too. I didnt want to go any darker on the rear because of that dumbass dot-matrix shit on the window. The 35% matches it perfectly without having to use the sun-blocker vinyl on the outside of the window or risk getting bubbles by tinting over it.

Another suggestion to OP, a good cheap mod $50 at Muffler shop would be to get your exhaust resonator taken off. Not sure if the CL set up is the same as the TL but I love the sound not too loud, but loud enough for me.

Alot of guys who did that to the CL have gotten a Magnaflow resonator welded in place of the OE one. For some reason removing it doesnt give the same effect on the CL as it does on the TL.

I think its because the TL-S has a another small resonator near the cat. I didnt know that either until I glanced under my friend's TL.

I have another solution thats even cheaper then removing the resonator. I havent told anyone about this and im surprised it hasnt been discovered.
I unbolted one muffler with a 14mm wrench and put 2 12mm flat washers on each of the 2 bolt studs. Bolted the muffler back up.
This creates a small space before the exhaust gas passes thru the muffler between the muffler and the pipe. The result is increased sound around 2k and 4k. You do lose a little backpressure/torque cause its essentially a leak in the exhaust system but you can always undo it and it costs like $1 in washers.
The sound is good, dare I say close to G35ish. Im gonna try going 1 washer each bolt soon and see if it changes the sound/increases the torque. I love this mod. Cheap, easy to do and easy to undo.

I could have a couple hours of fun while he's at work.

And I was planning on doing a DIY for the springs. I'll rock the springs by themselves until I order the rsb and shocks. It shouldn't be too long but I've been dying to lower my car for so long now.

well to put in the springs, you'll need to take out the shock. So it saves labor to do it at the same time since they are both already out. did you order the shocks yet?

No, I'm 500$ away from that. If They were both coming in relatively soon I'd put them in together for sure. As long as doing two separate installs isn't bad for my suspension components I dont mind the labor at all. It gives me something to do.

And at this point in my summer I'm not driving much, just to and from work and around town a little.

If two separate installs is a BAD idea, let me know and I guess I'll be forced to hold out.

Yeah...after you've sweated through July heat in dissecting the rear trim, speaker covers and wedged your sweaty head and back up into the rear glass popping the rear struts out - you'll be saying "there's no way in hell I'm doing this again". The fronts are cake - 20 minutes each if you've done it. The rears........have fun.

its not that bad right? all you have to do is remove the back seats and the top mounts are there. Takes me like 10-15 min to remove the seats.

you can run on your stock shocks for a little while.

I've never tried removing the seats, I just remove the speaker cover. I've lowered 2 of these, and raised one back up. The access point is between the glass and that speaker cover, so I'm not sure removing the seats would do you much good.

Taken from the 2gen cl info sticky.

As you can see all you need to do is remove the rear seats to gain access. Just a few bolts.

Yeah I took my rear seats out to do my rear springs as well. Once they were out it was just three bolts i think.

I would def wait to do the springs and shocks at the same time. Safe you some hassle too. Unless you have the spring compressor your gonna have to take them into a shop to have them compress them. Then you'll have to do it twice and pay twice as much.

With that drop you have plans to take care of the rear fenders? Might get a little rub. I had mine cut after i dropped her.

Spring strut compressors can be rented at autozone, and you get your whole deposit back when you return it.

What I'm gathering from everyone's posts is that two separate installs will not cause any harm to my car or its suspension. Springs came in today so I'm planning on putting them in tomorrow.

we're just trying to save you the labor, but if you dont mind then its okay i guess. at least when you do your struts, you'll be faster at it.

taking the seats out is the best way. You just need a box wrench cause of clearance issues. a socket wont work too well.

I did it by taking the seats out. Its really easy. I dont feel like taking the seats back out to adjust it again.

Have fun with those Autozone spring compressors. They are a pain in the ass to use. I did coilovers on my Civic, then decided to save some $$ by putting springs/struts on my Prelude. That was a big mistake. Thats why I went straight for coilovers with this car.

With a 1.6" drop you shouldnt need to roll your fenders.

^ That sucks...probably partying too much...

Yeah rear seats come out...and it can be a pain in the ass to get them back in.

But the way I look at...it's good practice for you.

2nd time around should be a lot easier and you'll be comfortable working on your CL's suspension.

It's not going to hurt anything to do separate installs.

But keep in mind you're going to want to get those aftermarket shocks as soon as you can.

the rear seats arent bad compared to getting out the rear deck.

yea, i agree that removing the seats arent bad but i wouldnt do it to adjust the shocks for dampening on k-sports or illuminas. thats why im not gonna get adjustable shocks for my set of aftermarket shocks, something like tokico blues or something.

I think I need your help. today we were able to get one rear strut out.

The tophat is on way tight. I don't know how im going to loosen it. The sway bar end links were the hardest part to loosen, I was only able to get the bottom bolt out of the link, and I loosened the top one but couldn't get it off. I got the sway bar link out of the way finally my unbolting the metal piece that holds the brakelines and top of the sway bar link.

Does anyone know where you can buy a replacement link?

Any auto parts store

Most people go with MOOG although there are plenty of lines that are as good if not better than MOOG.

Do you have any air tools? Usually that will break the tophat bolt loose.

MOOG links are good and relatively inexpensive. They have greasable fittings too.

I don't have any air tools, and the allen head at the top is not fitting tightly on the 5mm allen wrench. I'm just not sure how to break it loose at this point without stripping the tophat.

Vice grips clamped onto the very top of the threaded rod and a wrench on the bolt. Get a big breaker bar and alot of strength/weight to break it loose.

That would probably strip the threads pretty bad from the vice.

Got the front done in less than an hour today, if only the rear was as easy lol.

Hopefully I'll have this finished soon and be back on the road. On the bright side when I change the shocks I'll have new swaybar links and bolts that aren't rusted together.

You're gonna need an impact eventually anyway. Get the sears electric 7.5hp deal for under a hundred bucks and score a set of metric impact sockets. It's a must have, especially if you're using the autozone spring compressors, that require you to crank down both sides by hand......

Yea, those autozone compressors are a bitch to use when doing everything by hand. On my Prelude it took me about 2 hours per strut to swap everything. It was a major PITA. The next time I did it after I got the air compressor it took me all of 1 hour to do both fronts.
