I have that all across my dash vents. When you look down thru the windshield, you see all the vents like that... I think its from the heat and then cold.

I've read some people have used superglue to fix that. I think it's something that's covered under waranty too.

Yep. same here, right under the vents in between the dash and the plastic is the same on mine. I remember seeing a CL on eBay that had this same thing to the door arm rest. So I'm guessing it's pretty common.

ya mine are the same im having them replaced under warr. on the 24th. like others said my dash vents are all warp too.
looks to be about $67 for those without warrenty.

http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no

Even the dashboard itself is warps closest to the windshield. Im afraid to get the dash replaced and have a bunch of rattles but then what happens in a few more year if it gets worse and im out of warrenty? Im think i might get it replaced

Looks like the people with parchment luck out with their armrest, they're about $10 cheaper than the black interior.

Yeah, that's a common issue... covered under warranty, if you still are under warranty...

I remember that too.. I think they just took off the door panel (info sticky has a link to panel removal), and reglued the armrest...

Someone else used a black magic marker to make it less noticeable....

119,000+ miles - waranty not an option anymore. In fact I still need to get the srs light looked at!

So looks like a great opportunity for a DIY?

Yeah it's the arm rest portion. You can buy the arm rest & take the door panel off & it unscrews from the back. It's not a hard DIY. However be warned the armrest will take time to fade & blend into the rest of the black door. The color will not match perfect as first. It will look a little gray.

I got a DIY for ya...

Take the door panel off...use a small screw, and it'll suck up the piece poking out, put the panel on. And you're done! Mine's been like that since I bought the car...I'm lazy to do it now.

I've done this to most of my old cars, one screw holds it pretty well.

like fuzzy02cls said....if you do decide to get a new one be prepaired for it not to match. I had my done before I bought it from the dealer and it was grey. It will darken up and match fine but it did take (and I'm guessing here) maybe two months before i didn't notice the color difference any more.

I have the same issue, although it is not as bad as the pic showed. I'm hoping it doesn't get any worse.

What is the actual cause of it? I'd like to know, as replacing it will only be a temporary fix.

Is there a screw that secures it that eventually loosens over time or something? I never really looked into how that door panel is mounted/secured.

I think it just gets warped over time from being in the heat, and the stress that's put on the door panel when closing the door. Not really any preventative measures, other than going Duke's of Hazard with you're CL.

Yep! There is only a thin layer of foam that wraps the plastic molded piece and that layer of foam is supposed to adhere to the plastic. In two cases, the foam has either broken or separated from the plastic on my armrest.

I am half way through the fix now, the hard part is finding a glue that works. Crazy glue and elmer's both don't hold.

DIY write up with pictures to follow tonight.

Talking Interior DIY

Well, better late that never on the DIY.

First, research how to remove the door panel. The corner speaker is held on with clips, they just pop out and can be wiggled out.

Hint to removing the door handle. One you take out the only screw, slide the whole assembly to the right and then pull out.

Once your in, you'll have to remove the retainer for the door handle bar. Real easy, it just pushes off and rotates away. Just lift the bar out and push it inside the door.

There are (2) screws that hold on the panel and 4 or 5 clips. They are easy to remove and more durable than the domestic car panel clips.

This clip was the hardest to undo. I recommend rotating the entire door panel upside down and then undoing the clip.

The inside of the door panel. There are a BUNCH of screws holding on the armrest but thankfully they aren't long winded.

Once you get the armrest off, there are two screws holding on the Window control cluster. You'll need to remove the power mirror switch to get to one of them. the switch is removed by wedging a screwdriver between the housing and the underside of the armrest in order to push the metal tabs down. DON'T FORCE IT. It will come out with a little persuasion.
(the pictures I took were blurry and i'm not tearing apart the car again.)

Here is the problem area:

Gorilla glue or Rhino glue - pick your african mammal - just make sure the bottle says for use on foam and plastics. A lot of the glues won't adhere to either. (thank you to my mother for enlightening me to that little fact) I bought my glue at Walmart for $3 and a pack of 16 spring loaded clips for $4.

Here is my setup. I used a paint stirrerererrerreerrer against the finished side of the door handle to maintain an even pressure and not create little dimples where the clips were.

By the end of the NASCAR race it was set. Here is the result:

Reference pictures at the beginning of the thread for comparison:

I also fixed this part of the door handle while I was at it.

Hope this helps the next person! Thanks for playing.
