Interior console light

How do you replace the light between the cup holders and the arm rest console? I popped that green plastic piece off and saw the light was behind even more plastic. Do you need to take apart the whole console area just to get in there? I tried looking for other posts about this with no avail.

I would assume you would have to remove the center console. I am trying to think about where the light was located when I removed my console...I think it is actually attached to the bottom of the center console armrest part. Do a search for removing the center console.

Basically you have to pull up the two trim pieces slowly and carefully, use a flathead if necessary. Then unbolt the bolts inside the console(I think there are 3) and remove the two bolts that were concealed beneath the trim that are closest to the lid. I believe those are the only 4 bolts. Lift the center console out slowly and unplug the accessory power plug(which is what gives that light/outlet power). I think if you flip the console over you will see the light.

Again, this is just a thought.

There is a green light that will light the inside of the center console compartment when the lights are on. I think it's by the power outlet.

I sent an email over to the guy @ tectoys asking if they stocked a replacement LED light for there, but a week has passed and I still haven't heard anything. That weak ass fake ass kryptonite looking glow bothers me

I believe its the same bulb used throughout the car (168) for the maps lights, doors, etc. I'm planning on replacing it with a led bulb myself once I recieve them from superbrightleds.com, and once I take apart the whole console. Seems like a lot of work just for one tiny light bulb.

123456SPEED: We don't have a light for our cupholders, but we have 6 gears and an E-brake!

Yes, it's the same bulb type as the map lights and door courtesy lights, #194. To replace it, you need to take the center console apart. First remove the side garnishes (aluminum or wood). Then unscrew the two screws inside the console near the back, and yes, it helps to remove everything inside first. Then there are four more screws holding the front end of the console in place closest to the gear shifter. Take those out and wiggle the console out of place. The cigarette lighter is plugged in still underneath, so don't yank it out yet. Unplugg it and underneath the console you'll be able to see the console light. Twist it out, and replace it. Remember to plug the cigarette lighter back in when you're putting everything together again.

Nope, just a bunch of stuff you have to take apart in order to take it out. If you've ever taken your center console apart, you're already 95% there.

How do you get that green piece off? I tried but I thought it was glued in or something.

It just pops out. Wedge a flat-head screw driver in there and pop it out.
