I bought my CL-S Type brand new in 2001. Right after I start the engine I always here these two buzzing sounds back to back (mmmmmmmph, mmmmmmph) that shound like they are coming from right behind the radio. Does anybody else here this? Do you know what it is?

 

Are you talking about after you begin moving slowly? If so, It's the ABS self check. They should make that sound at like 5 and 12 MPH i think.

I usually hear it almost a second or two right after the engine starts. Might be the ABS check (had no idea the braking system did that). Sounds like it is coming from almost inside the car though to me. Right behind the radio console area. I'll have to look into that.

I know it the abs check but why does it make that specific noise I find it to be a really weird noise (im sure people will agree with me) and why does it sound like its coming from inside the car

 

it comes from the ABS motor under the hood near the window washer fluid.

Now I know where it comes from but why the sound sounds like an impact gun but less loud

 

It's a hydraulic pump doing a self check. Just the way it sounds.

 

Almost all our family's car does that.

 

Cool. Well I'm just glad I'm still hearing it then. Something less to fix.
