How does a +14hp +12.8 ft/lbs. max gain, and a +13hp, +10 ft/lbs gain at peak sound to you? Thats the claimed gains of the Comptech Icebox for the CL-S 6 speed.

Link to dyno

Sounds to me like you just chose the wrong intake

I would take those dynos with a grain of salt. AEM posted a dyno stating that the the 04 TL will gain around 20 hp, which is a bit unreasonable to me.

One of our members on A-TL.com gained about 8 whp by installing the Injen, so its not all smoke and mirrors, but I haven't seen any independent dynos claiming gains of around 15 whp from just an intake for the 04 TL.

If you search on A-TL.com you can find more info about the Injen.

Those dynos are usually a bit inflated.... 8-10hp is about average for a CAI. Icebox will get you a bit more.

Liquice--i didnt choose the wrong one, i was looking for a filter for my CL-S and just say this on their site. its cool if the icebox gives a little more, i just thought 12whp seemed really good.

I just installed mine, and the but-o-meter registers just about nothing, but the sound is pretty dang cool. Not as loud as the AEM that i had on my CL-S, but defin. cool and worth the money.

Isn't the 10 extra stock hp the new TL has over the old TL from an upgraded intake. I can't imagine an aftermarket one would increase it that much more.

I guess people are replacing the stock CAI But I don't see how replacing a CAI with a CAI would yield more than 2-3 hp.

Technically we do have a factory CAI. However with the resonator and all the piping, plus the filter being much much higher, it is still restrictive. The advantage of the aftermarket is less restrictive piping and lower placement of the filter. It has the disadvantage of every other CAI that it is susceptible to water ingestion.

The intake on the 04 TL is still good, and there are people who have theorized that it gets most of its effect when you are driving and there is a "ram-air" effect with the stcok CAI. This is hard to duplicate on a dyno, which "might" be a reason why the aftermarket ones are showing more gains...

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the "raim air" effect only starts to really start adding power at speeds in excess of like 100-110mph??
