Intake or no intake, that is the question?

Basically, I been thinking of getting a CAI for my CL, but I don't have $150-$200 bux to drop on an intake. My buddy told me about some generic CAI's on eBay that normall sell for approx $30 bux shipped. Will one fo these generic $30 dollar intakes do the trick or is it better to just leave stock and not bother at all unless I am willing to consider an AEM, Injen or Icebox?

Thanks so much...

Could just take the resanotor out & add a K&N stock filter. That will give you some gains.

Yes eBay has them....if you want cold air...usually people suggest one from AEM with “by pass”…to avoid water getting in. But you live in San Jose…so I don’t think you worry about snowing and raining a lot.
Maybe you might as well go for generic one.

FYI for stuff like this you can use “search”.

do the K&N or else just leave it alone. definitely don't go with the cheap eBay stuff, you are better off staying stock.

intake doesn't do all that much anyway, its mostly just for the sound

don't buy the ones off ebay.. you get what you pay for in most cases, and all the shitty ass priced intakes on ebay are basically shit

an intake alon wont do much, but when combined with the headers and exhaust the intake will make a difference. when i had my intake and headers my car felt good, when i added the cat back, the whole car was just much better. Stay away from that ebay crap. The biggets difference between the ebay stuff and the name brand stuff is the quality. An intake really relies on sound waves and turbulence. Some of the ebay intakes have no heat coating, and are very rough inside, causing you to maybe loose some hp. Be careful what you buy.

Just install a short ram air intake, cheaper and you don't have to worry about the water getting in and the install is much much easier.. You don't have to take off the bumper etc...

Avoid the Ebay ones...you're better off going into the for sale forums on this site, acura-tl.com & .com and finding someone selling their old one. You could find one ranging from $50-$100.

Tube is tube……..some companies just spend more money on advertising. To make you get their product.
Buying generic one of fancy shancy name wont do that much difference. We are talking 5+hp over here.

haha... shipping costs more than the intake does. Gogo generic brand! Someone get this and install it... I'd love to know what increases it gives and how long it lasts before breaking.

A lot of sellers do that to keep the EBAY fees lower.
I have no idea if that’s the case here, but I have heard that.

aem, injen or comptech. Injen and AEM are similar, comptech is an ice box and is the safest, but makes no noise at al.

Remember, you get what you pay for. Pay now or pay more later, your gonna pay no matter what. So, you might as well go with the good stuff. I had the injen and it looked really good. I really like the polished look. It's about 50 to 75 more then the AEM, but the looks were worth it.
