you should be happy that you didnt loose control of that car and kill someone, then your insurance would really go up, 130 in a 60? come on

You are lucky that you still got the license. if you do 100+km/h over speed limit, that will result in automatic license suspecsion.

The first speed ticket is not free but it does stay on ur file for the next 3 years (at least that's the policy with my company). And you are 17 (Looks like you got a G2 license), you should expect a big boost in the premium next year.

My friend's dad is paying $5400 canadian for a corrolla (3 people isured for that car) because he got a ticket for 70km/h in 40km/h zone, he already did insurance shopping and that's the cheapest he can find.

If you have a heavy foot, you should get something slower. Cuz guys like us under 25 should be really really careful not to get the tickets.

Is this km/h? What is that like 45 is a 20mph zone?

Either way, in most US states, going over double the p/s/l at 17 years old would be a major problem with future insurance and more importantly, in keeping your freakin' license...

km/h. It's still bad enouf for him to lose 3 points when he's not even driving with a full license.

No such thing as a freebie. If you get a ticket, it's going on your record. That's how insurance companies make their money... they're not going to let you go on any ticket... even if it's your first.

My insurance has never increased due to speeding tickets, but I think I'm the only one.

OH man, hell no you won't get a freebie, however i don't know about canada. In pa, 31 miles over the speed limit call for a suspension, driving classes, and all that stuff. I got 2 speeding tix, a year apart, and each time the insurance went up a few hundred dollars. I know an agent, she said that speeding tix cause more of a hike in money than a DUI will. I have had a clean record for 3 years now, and my insurance goes down every 6 months. I pay about 1400 a year now.
