Instrument Cluster Light Bulbs

I've done a search without any luck.

Does anyone know of brighter bulbs that can be substitued for original ones?
Light bulbs, not LED's.

you need to remove the stock filtering on the back of the gauges then position a shit load of leds to make it light properly

here is the mess i had to make, to make the leds work

this is what happens if you don't remove the stock filter

this is what mine looked like after hours of work

That looks tight as hell but what about the rest of the dash ie. the clock, the ac controls etc. did you change those to or did you leave it stock, and if you did how does it look with the guage cluster one color and the rest of the dash then stock greenish color.

any color can be done, but white is much easier for the cluster, since blue led's can't light up the needles and i would have to use 6 white leds just for the needles

i'm not gonna be at the meet, but i also put it back to stock last month cause i thought i was gonna sell the car

i can do it for you, thats no problem. it took me almost 3 weeks, only cause it did it slowly and tested everything. the entire car can be done in about 6-8 hours depending on how fast i can work

How did you get your clock to show the time that big on your Navi? I hate squinting to see it in the lower, right corner....

there are 2 ways

1 is just leave the navi alone when you start the car and it goes there by itself

the other way is goto setup and shut down the navi, then press the clock with your finger and it moves back and forth from the corner to the center

Argh, mine doesn't do that. Different software? I guess I'll live with squinting.

Do the LED's dim like light bulbs when you use the dimmer switch?

why couldnt you just paint the existing bulbs in the cluster with a transparent color of choice? whould this not work. Isnt this what the makers of aftermarket bulbs do for headlights to change the color besides changing the watage of the bulb.

Go ahead, it's pretty Plus painting leave imperfections. They don't paint bulbs, they dip them. Wattage of a bulb does not change its color.

will not work on most Honda clusters

what they do is put a filter on the actual gauges, in the CL it is blue, so when you light a regular bulb which is kinda yellow in color and shines through the blue filter you get green, the filter is also to shine the light evenly, so sticking new brighter bulbs in will not work

niteqwill,

painting a bulb would indeed be ghetto! I was refering to something a little more sophistocated like dipping. As far as wattage is concerned i was reffering to a dimly lit bulb appearing a little less white than a well lit bright bulb.

RBF351,

thanks for the reply. I did not know they had a filter on the guage. Your install looks great either way and I wish i was on your side of the country to check it out and possibly do it.
