Instead of a New exhast....what about changing mufflers????
Has anyone tried this before? I was thinking of the comptech exhast before, but with such minimal performance gains (if any) I cant justify the price for the looks....so I thought, why not get new mufflers with tips instead? And I dont want just new tips because it wont look clean with the CLS (since welding will be involved). I just dont want any performance losswith new mufflers. Can someone comment on this? thanks,

The axle back exhaust that Comptech sells isn't much more than a set of mufflers. Our stock exhaust isn't that restrictive to begin with so even if you take the mufflers off completely, you won't notice that much of a difference. Since you already have headers, it will be even less of a difference. My advice is to keep your stock exhaust.

I got a price for just the HKS Super Dragger muffler and the shop wanted $500 CDN each. I figure for a few bux more, I could get the complete cat back system got HKS, Greddy or Tanabe. I missed out last week on a cat back Tanabe Hyper Medallion (two months old) for $750 CDN...still having nightmares.

Exactly! That's what I'm looking for! A better look...well, maybe not better...but something different. Our stock exhaust is not very restrictive at all, some have speculated that an aftermarket system like Comptech's would only give a few horsepower gains. What I'm wondering is can aftermarket mufflers (yes, our mufflers are bolted on) cause loss of horsepower?

not a flame but u missed the point...hes jus goin for a look not power. What i would do is look under it...see if the mufflers are bolted on or welded. If they are welded your gonna go through alot to switch the mufflers. If they are bolted you can just find sum mufflers and bolt those suckers on. Sorry im to lazy to go check the car.</STRONG>

hahahhahah ROFLMAO that was so damn funny. I like the little stutter-kickback like 4 seconds in. Sounds like when the exhaust backfires on those riced out cars from too much abuse on those 4 bangers.

you could be right..it definitely one for the record books...ever see the cartoon johnny quest well instead of an exhaust on the back of your car its his little friend hadji ,he just got his head sticking out of the trunk and every so often you see him put this oxygen mask to his face ,but, its connected to a nitrogen bottle instead of O2
