Installing the lip spoiler...
So i got my lip spoiler from Randys today (thanks)...it still needs to be painted but it is already primed...my questions is - how do you install it...
i was just putting it up against my trunk and it looks like it doesn't bend too well to match the curve of the trunk (i am talking about the the curve when you are looking down at your trunk from above)...how did you guys who have it install it?
any advice?
thanks,

The curve of the trunk isn't that extreme. The lip spoiler should bend quite nicely to fit. Just make sure it is lined up when you start to tape it down, because once it is down, it is down for good.
maybe it looks smaller from the pics, but all it takes it some idiot with their elbow or arm to knock that right off, or is it very stable. i know the 3m tape will hold it on tight, but with it not drilled in, its always possible.
thanks mrsteve
do you have pictures of the spoiler from on top? my concern is really right in the middle of the trunk where it needs to bend the most...
also, i didn't get the tape from ccc.net...what tape shoudl i get? i am guessing 3m double sided but i want to make sure...

Yes it is 3M double sided tape.
UNC - it is very stable. There is no way someone is going to accidentally rip it off.
The spoiler is installed from the factory on the M3 and M5 using the same 3M double sided tape.

I'm assuming you are having a body shop paint the spoiler for you? They could easily put the spoiler on your car at the same time. I'm sure they have a better eye for things like that than most people who aren't involved in that line of work do.
I just installed mine about 2 weeks ago. Just like mrsteve said, it does have to bend a bit to match the curve of the edge of the trunk. I did mine by myself, but an extra set of hands would have made things a bit easier (one person holds the spoiler in place while the other peels the tape).
The 3M double sided tape is pretty much rock solid once you get things stuck down. It's not going to come off unless you intend it to (by heating and dental floss, just like the stuck on logos and what not).

but how do you align the spoiler without placing the spoiler on the trunk?
like when you peel off the 3m paper once it makes contact with the car is that it? or would you have to apply some more pressure for it to stick like glue???

1) Apply 3M tape (the 'brown' side) to the spoiler underside.
2) Peel back about 1" from each end of the red sided peel-away strip.
3) Position onto trunk without mashing down. You can move it around a bit to get the position right as most of the tape is still covered. The corner that you already exposed tape will stick, but you can still move it around as the surface area of stick-um is small. Hopefully you won't have to reposition too many times. As said above, it may be helpful to have another pair of hands hold the unstuck spoiler down and curved while you peel away the strip.
4) Once positioned, hold spoiler in place and peel away the rest of the red peel away tape in one fell swoop. Push down spoiler to trunk lid. It is now pretty solid in place. I ran my hand over it a few times to make sure there were no air gaps in the taped area.
5) Stand back and admire your work (or scream in horror at the stuck down and misplaced spoiler)
5a) If you did a bad job you can unstick by heating up the tape with a hair dryer and running dental floss underneath (just like other stuck on logos). You'll need to remove the tape off the spoiler itself too. Buy some new tape and start all over.
6) Wash & wax/polish.

Thanks!
Now Can you tell me what style and size 3M double sided tape to use?

The kind that the kind folks at c-c-c.net sell with the spoiler. It looks like BMW part number Part #: 51-71-0-141-495.
