Installed Testpipe

Yea so i finally took out my cat and installed my test pipe today and i do see results, i like it alot. There are no error codes either, people that usually see hear my car are telling my its louder but i cant really tell from driving it. I can feel a little gain from it, but it smell like crap when idling.

Oh dude! Can I borrow the original cat? We can use it to make a bolt in versions for people, also a high flow converter that will have all the performance without the smell! PM me

OBX has one on they're site but everytime I ever tryed to buy it,I could'nt for some reason.Never bothered calling them to try to order it over the phone thou.
I tryed to search for a shop a whole day for someone to make one,and the shop I found was like 40miles away and he wanted me to bring the cat,he would copy it and I would be off with no receipt.

Heavy fines for shops that delete cats.So it's hard to find 1 that will do it for you.

Do it urself. Buy two flanges and a pipe. Measure and cut the length needed. Take out the cat. Bolt up the flanges. Place pipe in place and mark the pipe and flange with a sharpie, in a few spots. Mark a hole for the o2 sensor. Unbolt everything. Take it to a shop. Tell them to line up the marks and weld it. Take it home drill out a hole for the o2 sensor, screw in a spark plug defouler then the o2 sensor. And go for a test drive

The shop let you bring your whole car there to do the work ? No joke, I must have called 25-30 shops before I even found one who said they would even copy it.

I live in the dmv area we dont do smog we just do the OBD and there are ways to get around that if thats even a problem. As a matter of fact it was his idea for me to get a test pipe, he has it on all his cars and all his customers have it too

Where I live now they actually look under the car for the cat.

Back in NY they put the car on a dyno and measured the carbon levels at certain speeds. The car I had back then wouldnt pass so they hooked the sniffer up to an idling Suzuki Vitara the first time, and the second time they didnt even pull my car in, they used a Nissan Maxima. NY requires a camera on the dyno looking at the front of the car to battle fraud, but luckily the second time I went the camera was broken.

and a good chance that the shop will want your cat off the car to copy (not insalled, cause then they know it will be used on the road)
but yeah most shops will not touch it or copy it on the car due to EPA regulations and HUGE legal implications (like being forced to close the doors, because of HUGE fines and such) if they violate the law of disabling the cat

If I get a chance I'm going to go down there tomorrow before they close and talk to the guy. It will be a week or so until I can do anything.

So Asian Imports is the place in Maryland that recomends a test pipe in place of CAT's, and builds them for his customers? So how does he get around the OBD?

^ I didn't know they made one. I'll see how much the shop is going to charge and if the P2R one is less I'll get it.

$100 for one is pretty expensive.

Some people are claiming that they got their mid muffler removed for $40-50. Its the same premise, just a different area. Theres no reason to spend twice that.

You can also make the test pipe yourself. Measure how long the pipe should be, pick up that length (I think Advance Auto sells exhaust stuff), get 2 floating flanges, slide them on the pipe, then flare the ends of the pipe. Test fit it, then bring the pipe itself to a muffler shop and ask if they can weld in an O2 bung. It shouldnt cost any more then $30 if you do it yourself.

thats what i did. 3bux for a pipe, made flanges at work and welded flanges and pipe at work, then drilled a hole for a spark plug defouler and weld that in. all under $10-$15

u guys are die-hard modders.

I wanna upgrade the cat but DO NOT WANT THE EGG SMELL.... i WILL NOT...

does the XLR8 high flow cat do that?

I live in Toronto Canada and the driving regs here are pretty bitch. 50 over and u lose ur car for like a week, fined from 2000-10000$, and then maddd demerit points and ur fucked for insurance.

and u need to get emissions test done every 2 years, so u gotta be able to pass it or else they make u drop 500-1000 in it before allowing u back on the road.

stupid Prime Minister Harper... ALL OF ONTARIO HATES YOU!!!!
