Installed the Alpine TV in the Benz for anybody interested

I hired some of the best installers I know to work in my garage and boy did they have trouble installing. It is so different from the acura cl-s which was quite easy

needless to say the alpine navi is not working correctly because we havent found the speed pulse wire yet for all you electronic buffs :help:

here are some pics preview before they get posted on the MB forum

Welcome to the world of German car ownership. Everything is complex.....and peel that damn plastic off the carpet already! Reminds me of my Dad when I was a kid. He always left the plastic on forever. That's used car plastic though so you can remove it.

the speed pulse wire is the wire that comes from the VSS(or equavilent) and goes to your speedometer gauge cluster.

If you don't know where it is... YOU BETTER BUY A MANUAL!

Nice looking car, nice video setup. Hey, lets see some action on that screen already!

thanks everyone for the nice compliments

I decided to keep the Alpine system after I found out the MB cd changer doesnt play MP3 .

I love the system in the Benz now even though Im still using the stock bose speakers...it stills sounds very clean

as far as the speed pulse wire there is no information on any manual. I dont think Ive ever heard of a CLK 430 with after market screen and navi. Crutchfield has no information on this car anywhere from 99'-02' they couldnt even tell me what speakers it has.

I quess not too many people with these cars fawk around with it that much I really dont blame them had I not bought the Alpine system I probably wouldnt have either...I kinda miss the steeriing wheel controls but i heard there is an adaptor...need to verify with Alpine.

thanks

Lou

Lou, call Alpine direct and ask them where the speed sensor wire is. They're usually really helpful.

Sweet fit man, that D900 looks good in the 'Benz. And I am definitely feeling the CLK-430, its a hot ride...what kind of mods (if any) are you planning for it? Rims, tints, drop...?

Lou,

Nice install. Looks very clean. Looks like a pain to get to the climate controls though. Otherwise, it looks great.
Did they find the speed pulse wire? Can you use the steering wheel buttons with the new system? I just bought myself a '02 C32 and contemplating whether to install the Alpine Navi from my other car.

not at all the iva-d900 has a flat button which flips the screen down momentarily allowing you to use the buttons and it automatically flips back up.

yes the I got the VSS wire information from the MB forum...members there have really welcomed me with open arms.

if there is anything i can help dont hesitate to drop me a PM or e-mail.

by the way nice choice with the monster now go get those M3s

for the question regarding not being able to use the stock Bose is bullshit the speakers are working and sound better than ever no background HIssing.

Thanks Lou,

The only thing is whether I can use the steering wheel functions. I'd hate to lose that. I'm very lazy.
