Install Price for a cold air intake?

I just hung up with a local Acura dealer and they wanted $289 to install
the Comptech cold air intake. Is this normal price rnage? I was actually looking for install instructions on a different thread.

first off, you should know that any stealership is going to be AT LEAST 2 times the going price at any reputable performance shop. $289 just to install an intake is RIDICULOUS. Take it to a local performance shop and you'll get prices in the $60-$100 range.

?!

is that including the price of the intake itself?

I think I paid 60 bucks... but you should be able to do it yourself if you want.

it is VERY easy. with out any experience it should take you no more than a couple of hours. plus the satisfaction of doing it yourself is invaluable.

The normal range is 0. Most do the installs themselves.

That's a crazy price. I'd do it myself for that price.

I had never done anything on a car other then change the oil... and I installed my own intake. It took me a little longer then the others (average is 1.5 hours... took me 2), but I got it done and besides saving the money made me happy I did it myself!!

If you don't want to do it yourself take the advise of others... find another place to do the install.

That price was just for the labor to install, I thought at one time I did see install
instructions. I guess I'll check out Comptech's web page.

I'm a firm believer in DIY. I think you should do it instead of paying someone else. CAI is probably one of the easiest mods to install. Take it on with a friend. If he's handy with tools, then that's a bonus. There are tons of DIY instructions on CAI installation, so search the forums and read up on it. You can do it with basic tools.

I plan on doing it myself. I just thought I'd ask the dealer since I still
get free oil changes there. Thanks for the info.
