"Infiniti boasts FX45 will out-accelerate AMG ML55 and X5 4.6i"
See full article on 2003 Infiniti FX45 (with Pics) here:

"A_315-hp, 4.5-liter V-8 powers the FX45, while a 280-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 moves the FX35. Though the power ratings are quite close, the difference between the engines is more apparent in torque ratings: 329 lb-ft for the V-8, versus 270 lb-ft for the V-6. Running the numbers, the FX45 boasts a better power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratio than both the BMW X5 4.6i and Porsche Cayenne S, and the FX35 tops the X5 3.0i in both power and torque, by a wide margin."
"Pricing for the FX is extremely competitive. The V-6 model starts at $34,200 for rear-wheel drive and $35,700 for all-wheel drive, and the V-8 starts at $44,200. The bottom-line price of a fully loaded FX45 is about $53,000, nearly $3000 less than the base price for a Porsche Cayenne.'

I LOVED the FX45. One of my fav cars at the NAIAS. I was REALLY impressed. The Quality of the interior is way beyond that of many of the other Infiniti's and it just looks awesome from the outside.
Even the FX35 isn't that bad with 18" wheels and a 280hp engine

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
Ooooohhhh so THAT is what I saw on that truck... I saw one of these car carrying trucks hauling like 8 of these into an infinity dealer.
They looked... interesting.
I thought they were Daewoos at first.

guys my dad has a cayenne turbo on order, it will be here in march according to the porsche dealer.
The price for a cayenne S starts at $55,000 and if you get all the options can exceed $80,000.
The turbo starts at 88,000 well equipped then you have options like the 20" rims which are a necessity.
The Cayenne Turbo will take a shit on all other production SUV's if it lives up to the hype.

I don't care how fast it is, I think its ugly (the back is ok) and they can take that price and shove it.

I sat in the Porche Cayenne at the NAIAS, I think it was not the turbo model (crowd was too big to tell for sure), but I have to say, I was more impressed with the FX45. For $90k, the Porche is NOT worth it by any means IMO
~6.1 seconds 0-60 is fine for me (FX45). If I want to go fast, I'd rather spend the ~90k on an M5 and some extras

But something tells me the interior, ride quality, braking and handling just wasn't the same as this new breed.

infinti always over rates their cars, just like the q45 was suposed to reach 60 in 5.7 and kill the ls430 in a race, well it sure doesnt. dont get me wrong, infiniti makes some sweet ass rides, but they dont back up there hype

In the Car and Driver test i just read, even though it was the cheapest, it was also the fastest, best in braking, roadholding and fuel economy of the bunch. It appears Infiniti nailed it !!

Test drove a FX45 today...pretty good power, tranny sux, takes forever to shift, handles like shit for all that power. Great for straight line. Interior is so so, not much better than the Murano, the 20s could use wider tires than a thin ass 265/50/20 in the rear. All in all, for $53K, I'd still opt for X5 4.4i SP but you still have to cough up like $5K more for the X5...Hummer at this point.

C & D tested the FX45 themselves and published some great numbers....Infiniti hasn't really stated their performance figures yet.
Was it a fluke? Could be, we'll just have to see when other car rags test the FX.
