Importing Vehicles from Japan (canadian biz)

There is a buisness that operates out of British Columbia
www.terra2imports.ca
which imports vehicles from japan, these guys have all kinds of twin turbos and the prices listed are outstanding (almost too good to be true).
They are selling the lexus sc (older model) under the toyota name for around 10,000 canadian.
I actually saw a few ferraris under the 70,000 tag, and some NSX's well under 50,000

1. Has anyone ever dealt with or knows anyone that has dealt with them? Can they be trusted?

RHD TWIN TURBO SKYLINE - Talk about show stopping..

You will have to pay a ton to get it through the DMV.

Not worth it. You'll pay just as much to get it legalized as you did importing it.

I was just thinking if I get a car, I need to legalize it. I can't afford to get a car just to play with. My cars will be doing 25K miles a year.

And we already spent a lot of time last week bashing someone for not having insurance.

Assuming you want to drive it on the highway it needs to be brought up to US safety and emissions standards or the Government will sieze it and crush it. DOT headlights, door beams, air bags, etc.....

You might do some searching for folks who do that kind of thing and how much it costs. Also if it's not a US spec car you might not get parts for it.

j/k you really think it would cost that much to legalize ?... are the engines in japan
un-governed (speed limiter removed)?? even if i go pick it up rather than them ship it across the country?

I know it was you.

And yes, it will cost a lot to get the car legalized. Remember that all these cars are right hand drive cars. They also have diffferent emission standards. And there is no comparison for them at the DMV. You will be required to basically pay to set up a standard for these cars. Expensive.

well one of those cars would be a 'toy' i would never use them as a daily drive. i can get a car insured without it being registered. there are high rate insurance companies that only work with high end and exotic cars.

Since they don't sell the CL in Japan, I'm guessing this thread isn't about a CL, which means...

It belongs in Cartalk:

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/

Oh, and like others have said, you'll have to federalize it... which means letting the gov't crash test a couple...

Bill Gates had something to do with federalizing the Porsche 959 (google for gates 959 federalize)... So if you have bill gates type of money, go for it...

Cars 25 years and older can be brought in pretty easily (or at least used to be)...
