Help me stop this rattling...

The silver shifter plate in my car has been rattling progressively worse the past few months and now its gotten to a point that it's driving me crazy. Of course the last time I had the car in for an oil change (when it was still under warranty), they told me they couldn't find/hear anything.

The rattling goes away if I put pressure on the plate, but I don't want to drive around with 2 fingers on it everytime I drive somewhere.

Has anyone else experienced this, or know of a way to fix it?

Thanks

Does that piece just pop in and out? I can't remember. It definately sounds like it's just loose. I would see if you can tighten it. Or just take it back to the dealer and say that this is something you complained about when the car was still under warranty and whatever band-aid they used to fix it did not last. See if they will fix it better then.

it does just pop in and out. there are two clips, on the top and bottom. i bet one of them broke. you can take a small flathead screwdriver and pop it off. remember to unscrew the shifter to take it all the way off tho. lol.

if you're 100% sure that it's that piece which needs to be replaced, order at the stealership or better yet, take it off now and order from an online site.
