IMO on the CL & CL Mods
IMO on the CL & CL Mods
I am a new, very satisfied 6-speed owner. I am also new to this site, and I have been reading a majority of the posts with interest/curiousity, and I have learned a lot of useful things about our car from acura-cl.com
.
I am a long time import hot rodder, and Honda owner (since 1983). The first import I modified was a brand new 1971 Datsun 510 sedan. Since then, I've modified a new 1978 Datsun 280Z, and 2 1981 RX-7's. In each case I took the engine down to the bare blocks and rebuilt. The one thing I learned with all of those cars is that someone is always faster, and why risk the reliability (NOS, pulleys, superchargers/turbos, etc) of your daily driver especially if it costs $32000+? ( I could tell you lots of horror stories). IMO it isn't worth it for the satisfaction of a couple-second street race or bragging rights.
My CL-S is by far the best, fastest and most luxurious factory- stock car I have ever owned. I will gradually individualize the looks (moderately lowered, tires & wheels, engine bay, Zaino) and sound (intake, exhaust, sub), but I work too hard for my money to run the risk of breaking and or shortening the life of the motor/car for a couple of HP.
And finally, for you guys that hate your CL and would rather own a ____, quit your complaining and sell it. No one forced you to buy it or keep it. It is one thing to post a legitimate concern, and another to whine to the world how Acura/Honda sucks...

Well said!!!!
Welcome to the CL family!!!
congratulations on yer 6-speed and welcome to A-CL
i respect and agree to what u're saying...i prefer cosmetic mods to performance mods out of concern for the integrity of the tranny...altho it's unfortunate that a $30K+ car has to have such a major flaw in its design (versus let's say an electrical problem which may not b as major), every car has to have some flaw to it
i believe anyone can do anything they want to their babies, whether it's a daily driver or weekend warrior...no matter what we do, however, the luxurious sporty coupe traits still remain...some people like to accentuate the sportiness, others like to highlight the attractiveness...i tend to view my red rocket as a work of art...each mod is another brush stroke towards perfection...i keep my mods as balanced as possible between sport and beauty, and it makes me happy to do what i like to do with the car
again, congrats on the 6-speed...best of luck with it!!

i say mod the hell out of it, pull out all the stops. 6spd = comptech supercharger and a 100 shot. why not, it's only $$. if it breaks, fix it. come on, 1mrdad, you could have the fastest 6 spd cl-s on the face of the earth. think of all the glory for you and the envy of the rice boys. you could be internet famous...
sorry, not sure where that came from, welcome. :o
