I'm waiting for an answer about a CL-S
Well I went to look at cars to replace my 98 Ford Escort ZX2. I'm upsidedown like a mofo in that POS and I wanted out. I've decided to lease for 36 months to pay off the negative equity.
Well I looked at several cars, and drove two. I drove a 2001 Jetta GLX VR6 auto and a CL-S. Totally different cars for sure. I went to look at a Maxima but didn't even bother test driving it because I just couldn't bring myself to pay for that car.
Anyway, I was really really impressed with the Jetta. It was quiet as hell, solid, and definitely a nice car. It was $27k too. Had it been a 2002, I think I might have chosen that car.
I also drove a CL-S for the first time and I've got to say that while it's very nice, it just didn't seem as fast as I had thought it would be. At least til I got back in the shitmobile ZX2. To be fair, my ZX2 has been awesome for me, but I'm 4500 in the hole because of that car's non-existent resale value.
I went to Rosenthal Acura in Gaithersburg, MD and to Congressional VW in Gaithersburg, MD. What a difference in two dealers. That Acura dealer was like Club Med and the VW place was like Wally World.
The salesman at Acura, Jeff Brusch (I think, it's been a long day) was totally cool as hell. As soon as he knew that I had a lot of knowledge about the CL-S he didn't give me the spiel. He actually showed me how stuff worked and didn't explain why VSA was important like he would to a normal person. He was totally laidback and very cool.
The VW guy was also a nice guy. I think he was from Senegal. He did his best to sell me the car, but it was really beyond his control.
I got a number from Acura, and went to see what VW would do knowing the numbers would not be anywhere similar. VW wouldn't even talk about leasing and wanted MSRP for their car and lowballed me by $800 on my trade. I told the salesman to tell his no-good sonofabitch trailerpark sales manager that I was going to buy an Acura and that he lost a sale.
So I went to Acura and got there at around 5:30pm. By that time it was too late to get a decision from the bank and because of my huge negative equity and only having $1300 to put down, they had to wait til early next week to hear about the lease.
So, I'm waiting to see if I'll finally join the ranks of the CL-S owners or that I'll have to wait a while longer, pay down more of the damn Lescort and try again another day.
I think that the acuator for the VTEC (or whatever it's called) was working because when the car got over 4500 RPM or so there was a feeling like a switch was thrown and the car was using all it's cylinders =) We'll see what happens.
It's an Aegean Blue CL-S non-navi with 10 miles on it =) Wish me luck =)
Also, for those considering an Acura in MD ... I'd go to Rosenthal and ask for Jeff because he's good people. He's young, aggressive, and not a shithead salesman like most of these guys. Beware of the finance d00ds there though ... They tried to strap a saddle on me and ride my ass like Zorro.

I test drove both as well: Acura / Jetta
Both very nice, but my Current CL-S with Headers and Sways simply BLOWS away the Jetta in Looks / Class / Speed.
Don't know what the Chip would do for the Jetta, but I'd say it still would come close to the ALL out Package of the CL-S !
Both are Great Cars, but IMO Acura Much better.

Pretty much ALL of their sales team is top-notch. I've met three of them and none of them would BS you. They also know how to bargain there, which seems to be a dying art in in dealerships in area like Baltimore, for example.
Aegean Blue CL-S non-navi
Hey that's what I got at Rosenthal!
Btw, if you do finalize on that CL-S, don't forget to come to:

Good luck getting the cl-s. And you'll be the 3rd blue cl-s in md along w/ jrock and ageancls. If you do get your car before 8/4 or even if you don't drop by the BBQ at burke lake and meet some of the members(around 25~30 people expected)

I think that VW doesn't fool around. Either they make a good car that runs fine or they make a steaming pile of turds =)

Well the latest is that we're waiting to see what Honda Finance of America is going to do. Apparently they already have it in the bag, but are waiting for a better rate.
So, maybe I'll have a new car tomorrow. If not, it's going to be some time next week.
If I drive out of that dealership in a new CL-S I think I might cry for joy =)
