Have you ever been in 120 degrees?? Dry heat my ass. I'll take the humidity any day of the week over this crap. Humidity just makes you sweat more. This dry heat sucks the moisture right out of you. A 14 yo kid just died at a boot camp for troubled youths the other day. The lawyers are already circling....

According to an azcentral.com article, six people have died of heat-related complications in the Phx area (Maricopa county) already this year and the heavy heat is just settling in. I didn't realize how hot it was yesterday until I was out hiking Squaw Peak in the late afternoon. It was friggen brutal. Felt just like the air in a sauna. After the hike, I felt little hard “beads” all over my hair on the back of my head. I had no idea what they were until I got home, looked in the mirror and realized they were large salt crystals from sweat! First time that’s ever happened...
And as Gold mentioned, the dry heat thing is way overrated. The sun literally seems to sear the skin in direct exposure. Even with all the complaining, I still love it here. Living two years in the Seattle area makes one appreciate the sun that much more.

But I agree... I don't care how hot it is, I still like it.
I have been called crazy many times for hiking it in the afternoon but I really enjoy the workout. Plus, there's a lot less people to get in the way at that time! Actually, when I was pulling in around 5:00, I saw a local TV news van doing a remote at the entrance to the park. I didn't pay any attention to them but a friend later said they had a segment talking about idiots who were doing stupid things like hiking Squaw Peak in the heat! lol!
It was a great day for pics. Very clear. I even had my camera in my car but forgot to take it up with me.

I hear ya. The heat is just too much for me to ride in up here though (I've got a Klein). Now I get a chance to say it: you really are crazy to be going out in this heat!!
Got the Niteriders to ride in the evening? Smart, it’s a lot cooler then...
