If there was the option for the 6-speed on the 2001 CLS?

Would you get the 6-speed manual or stick with the auto? I personally would stick with the auto. I like not having to shift all the time, especially in the driving i do everyday (rush hour traffic) The extra speed is not that important to me... plus i need a hand free for other things
I would have preferred the 6 speed but like you I have some rush hour traffic to contend with. I probably would have made the same decision as you to get the auto. At the time I figured the sport shift would be similar to a manual. All in all, I am happy with my choice.
Give 6-speeds and an electronic throttle
I would happily pay $2400 for a SMGII (forget the CVT $hit)
Manual + no_clutch = traffic and mountain fun (I would have still paid the extra $$$ for the Navi too)

I like my auto tranny, but if i had a choice i'd have the six speed. But i plan to build the trans eventually, then i'd have the best of both worlds. If the auto was bulletproof w/ less slip and harder shifts it would kick ass. It would be a toss up.

hmm
I would have automatically gotten the 6 speed because thats what I always drove...but now that I have the SS its a toss up...I actually like it-----hmm--thinking as I write this....I would get the 6 speed! But---If my option were to pay say 28,500 for an auto or like 31000 for a manual because they are "limited edition" I would take the auto....
To those of you who really wanted, or love to drive a manual. Why in the world did you purchase a new CL that's an autom.? There are some great cars out there (esp. German), that are available with a manual. If you love a manual that th's what you should, or should have purchased.
Just curious....

2) Didn't want to maintain a German car
3) Wanted to stick with Honda/Acura reliability
4) Thought SportShift would be close enough
5) Never expected CL to come out in a speed
6) Really liked CL-S despite auto
If I'd had the chance to live with the SportShift for a month, and known about the '03 6 speed, I would have waited.
