idle stays high, car surges forward

i was driving yesterday and when i came to a stop, i noticed that the car was idling pretty high (around 2k rpm). when i let go of the gas pedal, the car surged forward. it was as if i was accelerating. my foot was no where near the pedal and it was NOT sticking or anything.

i held the brakes and put the car in neutral. when i did this, the idle surged from about 1k rpm all the way to like 2500rpm and back and forth. a mintue or 2 later, it stopped doing it and it's been fine since.

wtf is going on?!?!?

i dont think its the IACV, i had that problem and it was fixed a while ago.

its a 2003 TL-S.

help!

have you recently disconnected the negative terminal off the battery?

Do you have a bypass valve on the CAI?
Hopefully it isn’t disintegrating and dropping parts into the throttle body.
This could cause the throttle to hang partially or fully open.
It’s happened to a few people here in the past.

Maybe the throttle body just needs to be cleaned out then.
Might have gotten some “gunk” past your filter.

With the car parked, try working the throttle cable manually from under the hood with the engine running and see if you can duplicate the problem.

My car did this once a few months ago, but it hasn’t happened since.
The dealer couldn’t find anything wrong.

I cleaned mine last weekend and it's made a real difference in how smoothly the car idles. You may as well install spacers while you have it all taken apart.

sounds like the ECU is looking for Idle position... it happens to me in the winter time after I disconnect the battery to work on the car.
