Ideas from those of you with one license plate

Hey guys, wanted to get ideas from those of you who have one license plate. What do you all have on the front plate? I wish I didnt have holes there and I could just remove it all together but i believe there already holes in the front. I was thinking of getting a mirror plate with Type S written on it. One of those half plates if you will (about half the height of the regular plates). Looking for ideas so let me know what you all have. Thanks

I hate when dealers do that!

Don't they know that there are mounting holes under neath the bumper for a license plate holder. AAARRRGGGHHH. I would have been PISSED if my dealer had done that.

Not to sound like a smartass, but did you check to see if they did in fact go through the bumper???

When my car was delivered, it had a front plate holder on even though I SPECIFICALLY told them not to put one on. Anyway, it was fastened underneath with a couple of bolts. Not visible...

Just curious...

I am not home to check, but I am almost postive that there are holes ( i am hoping there arent any). I live in NY and it is required to have both plates and all the cars I have had in the past have had holes in the bumper, so I was just looking to get some ideas from you all. I hope my assumption is wrong and I can remove the bolts when I go home this weekend.

yeap..mine was bolted from underneath.
when I took it off, there are some serious scuff marks where the top part of the frame was....bastards. They should put it in the trunk and let you mount it if you want it to be mounted. I probably have to replace my bumper to fix that. Wont do that until I plan on painting my car with a few coats and overlaying a few coats of clear coat. I saw a car the other day that had 3 coats paint, 3 coats clear coats....BLING!!!

Unless your dealer did something very naughty, there should be no visible holes in the bumper. The front plate holder attaches via two bolts on the underside of the bumper. Taking off the front plate holder exposes the nice gentle point of the front bumper. Take care to not let the plate rim scratch the bumper paint.

There was a thread on this about a month ago. Do a search for front license plate.

I told my dealer that I wanted the front frame and the dealer's sticker off the car when I picked it up.

Mine was installed with only the lower bolts too. I've since had it relocated even lower onto the airdam. Cleans up the look a bit.

I didn't have a front plate on mine. In NY, you normally get a ticket for no front plate, but I was never questioned about it. Also when I parked I just put my PBA card in the window. You can also take the front plate bracket off, turn it upside down and hook it to the front airdam w/zip ties.

This is what it looks like without the front bracket on the car or a license plate.

I just hope I don't get stopped, not that I care enough to pay the ticket anyways!

The first gen CL i had was bolted from the bottom. My second CL, the gold type-S, was also bolted from the bottom. My new red six speed has two nasty screws right into the plastic bumper, as well as the same two bolts in the bottom. This is probably due to the looseness of the license plate having only the lower bolts. In fact, the whole reason i took off mine in the first place is because it rattled everytime i closed my door.

Likewise, I only have 1 plate on rear and am in NY... The mounting holes for the bracket on the 1st vgebn are under the bumper and so are the TL-S mounting holes for the bracket. I do get stopped occasionally for it as COPS seem to think that it is a stolen car (due to no front plate). I hold my plate w/out bracket in the rear pouch of my passenger seat and I use the ultimate excuse: "I just got the car back from the autobody shop and the bracket is on back order. Officer, you know how dealerships are never reliable!" Then I whip out all my PBA cards and get off scotts free!

K I am home and there are 2 holes in the bumper in addition the the two brackets under the car. Why are dealers so stupid? You would think that Ralley Acura would be smart enough not to put holes in. I guess I am going to have to find a temp cover or plate for the front. I am going back to ny plates in a few months anyway. Thanks guys.
