You will go back to stock and then miss the HP so you will then get an Icebox so might as well save yourself the trouble now.

We have them for $280 shipped

Nope it's quiet. I had the same issues with the AEM. Too loud for me. The Icebox is very quiet.
You will be happy with it.

I would never pay $280 for a damn intake, that's retarded. If you're going to get the icebox just keep the stock intake and remove the resonator, there, now you have the same sound.

Edit: I don't mean to insult anyone posting here, I just dislike Comptech and their insane prices for just about everything.

k&n is the best route i think. quiet at normal acceleration, and yet gives a nice grunt when you step on it. hell theres only a few bolts to remove the resonator. bad thing is that side of the bumper is left a little flimsy

Yea I am also confused...I have no flimsy bumper characteristics.
Like mentioned above...you might want to make sure all your nuts and bolts are there..literally. ha ha

Is there a DIY on resonator removal? I searched, and found a post with cltypeslow linking to a DIY for resonator removal, but all it showed was how to remove the bumper.

What exactly is the resonator anyway...i'm new to this stuff...but i'd be willing to try it, it seems easy enough from what i've heard so far.

edit: oh yeah, how do i find out if this is legal in my state(s) or not? i plan on replacing the air filter with a k&n one

The resonator is on the left side (drivers side) behind the bumper and attached to the lower part of the airbox (where the air filter is located)and held on with 2 bolts. Its the big black box. Simply remove the bumper, remove the 2 bolts and remove.

There is no reason it wouldnt be legal. It has no effect on emissions.

Actually, there is no need to remove the bumper. Just jack up the left front side of your car, and remove the clips and fasteners of the underside splash-guards and the first few of the fenderwell splashguard. There should be two points where the resonator is bolted/screwed in to place. Remove those and pull the resonator out of the bottom of the air filter housing. In all honesty, removing the resonator does not make a difference in my opinion. I put mine back in. before that, I had a CIA-which does make your VTEC sound more aggressive at higher RPM's (I burned A LOT of gas by punching the throttle just to hear the sexy sound!).

Refer to this thread if you want to remove your bumper in order to take off the resonator a different way.

Have had the ICEBOX for over 4 years, and wouldn't have done it any other way. Filter gets cleaned/oiled basically once a year, after over 30,000 mile of driving. Sound is not at all intrusive like other CAI's, plus I think it would be inappropriate for this particular car. Now, the M2W I put in my vette is a different story altogether.
