You just opened a can of worms

But, IMO, I like my CAI from AEM. Sounds and performs great.

I'm partial to AEM. Extremely loud. Sounds sooo sweet @ idle and @ the vtech switch over. You can't beat that shit.

im thinking about adding a new exhaust system later, but for now, does adding an AEM intake really make that much of a difference in sound. and about how much HP is added with an AEM CAI?

Quick answer:

Short ram inake: waste of money, you will LOSE power on a hot summer day.
AEM CAI: loud, agressive, some quality issues, doesn't look stock, makes 10whp.
Icebox: stock looking, stock sounding, no quality issues, makes 1 or 2whp more than AEM CAI.

It's that simple. If you search through the history of the site, you'll see the same answers!

AND how advisable is it to buy a bypass valve along with the AEM CAI. i live in htown and it does tend to flood in some areas but im not sure if the CAI goes down far enough to worry about it. any info would be helpful. thank again
