headers are kickin my ass

started the install this evening... everything is going fine exept i can not for the life of me get a couple of bolts to come off. The two on the passenger side that connect the downpipe to the front exhaust manifold and the three on the cat... i have sprayed the crap out of them with pb and hit them with an impact wrench... ieven tried letting the car idle for a bit to heat them up and still nothing... my father is going to bring an air ratchet tomorrow. hopefully that will work.... it is a fight now...

A 3 foot breaker bar always works for me.

Air ratchet will do nothing but break. You need an impact gun with a high torque reverse rating. And starting up your car is not going to heat those bolts up the way you need them heated up. You also need a torch which you can buy for $20 at a local automotive store or Walmart. Heat up the bolts so you can loosen up the rust inside.

I concur. Use a torch or a breaker bar and that should do the trick!

Better yet, use the torch to heat it up, pour some cold water on it after, and that bolt will come right off.

well after about 4 hours of work i have the headers in and the front suspension done... not bad for a first timer...all i can say is i am completely wiped.... figured since it is a 3 day weekend i would finish up the rear later...

i took it for a ride and noticed a slight inmprovement in the tourqe but have not really pushed it hard yet. Also, i was surprised that the TL rims where not rubing with the prokit springs... we will see what happens after i finish the rear.. ill post pic's when i am done.

okay, so i caught a second wind and finished the back.... not a fun job for one person... a dead blow hammer and a jack did the trick though....

drum roll please .................................................. .........

the finished product.
