Icebox install

Ok so after talking to a couple guys from yesterdays philly meet I decided to install my icebox myself. Well two hours later and im done. The factory box came out like cake witout the removal of bumper or tire. Let me highlight the parts that slowed me down.

1. The instructions were a lot worse than I expected after hearing how bad they are.
2. The instructions were written for an 01 because my 03 had some stuff in diffrent places.
3. I guess since my car is a six speed it didn't have a ground that had to be moved. Which left me with no bolt to mount the supplied bracket.
4. Because of point 2 I had to visit the local hardware store for an extra bolt.

Trimming worked out ok and other than these things im happy I went with the icebox for my first performance mod. My car is no longer a virgin

I thing most of these things have been discussed before but I never heard of anyone having to buy an extra bolt to mount the unit.

Oh yea and a big thanks to the philly guys for talking me into doing this myself

At least you saved some money doing yourself. Did your bellows rub against that orange plug? mine did and it bothered me so I turned the bracket upside down. like this

:edit:
I didn't need an extra bolt.

So....now that you have an IceBox, what are your impressions? Noticeable performance improvement? Difference in sound?

I have a K&N drop-in and I'm considering an IceBox.

2002 CL-S Auto w/ Navi.

I love it

Its almost as quite as stock but has a slight growl at WOT. Which is just enough sound for me because I want to keep my car sounding stock. It also lets out a slight whoosh when you turn off the car, but only loud enough that you can hear it if your listening for it. I have noticed a small power improvement, infact if im in first gear at WOT the tires start to break loose above 5.5K rpms. This never happened before.

You should really upgrade from that drop in filter. You will notice the improvement

hmmm ... if memory serves correct, the Dallas guys mentioned something about having to obtain an extra bolt ... but all their ICEBOX's were installed in automatics.

If you look at this page of the comptech instructions it shows the bolt that should have ground wires attached to it. My car had a threaded hole there but no bolt or ground wires.
