Icebox = !!

I just installed my Icebox. I must say, when I took it out of the box, it looked like a piece of crap. I paid $2xx for this! It took me about three hours to install - getting the pieces together was a pain in the ass, figuring out what they really meant in the instructions was a pain in the ass, rerouting the coolant was a pain...

Thanks to Shawn S and the folks at the last Philly meet for posting pics of Zapata's install. They were helpful. Comptech's instructions are not very clear.

Once installed, the unit looks clean, but pretty cheap. The plastic tubing and the rubber bellows look like something more from Dr. Frankenstein's shop, then from Comptech's R&D.

I then bled my cooling system, and did the idle learn procedure. Then I took it out for a test drive...

WOW! I can really feel this. The car just pulls. Awesome. The sound is ever so slightly louder then stock, but not intrusive at all. The intake really complements the headers nicely -- I can really feel a difference in the mid RPMs.

Another happy Comptech customer!

Although I do have the Ice Box but with the Supercharger. I do know why the main coolant line was re-routed to clear the SC drive shaft. Why was there coolant re-routing required for the Ice Box??

I'm not entirely sure. Just one small line was re-routed. It was the one that is attached to the breather hose on the stock setup. Both the stock breather hose and this coolant line are substituted with the Icebox install.

Good to hear you got it installed. Sorry it was a hassle for you. Your right on your thoughts, I had the same. What a piece of crap it looked like. Nothing as cool looking as the AEM.

You’re welcome. Glad I could be of assistance.

Paint that cheap-looking box...it may looks whole lot better
I wonder if we take the cover box off, it would look just like a short ram, right? so we will hear more vtec revving.
