Reason: was going to see the shooting stars tonite...alone..so I ended up going east...to the forest area...but I never saw the stars..instead, I played with my life...damn, I'm stupid..

PS- I had to let up...cause at that speed, it's UNREAL...I almost shit my pants...I think the car could hit at least 140mph while still in 5th gear...shit, one more gear to go...hehe

I was heading east and I tracked down alot of straight roads up ahead on the NAVI...so instead, I planned on taking a pic of my speedo rather than try for the shooting stars...I had shot many pics and tried 3 times going east then west then east again...cause I ran out of roads and nerves before i could snap the pic. I WAS VERY NERVOUS...and there were no highway lights...I was x'ng the mountains...

I must GIVE CREDIT TO THE F1/NASCAR drivers...There's probably only a handful of guys in the world that can maintain top speeds of more than 150mph...because even at that speed I was going, I was very scared...the car is STOCK..no drop, not a thing. The speed at pitch black night is UNREAL. When I slammed on the brakes to slow down, I couldn't believe how FAST IT FELT...it was a rush SLOWING DOWN....

 

I know what you mean. I hit 145 once and I was freakin out. I was on I-95 at night. I wish I had my camera. The best speedo pic I have is going about 130. I use it as my pic for MSN messenger and I get a lot of compliments on it

 

145mph is crazy....I know the 6spd cls I was in was still accelerating..all I know is this:

went up to 80mph and downshifted to 5th gear from 6th...accelerated...it was smooth going up the tach...then all of a sudden, VTEC kicks in and you HEAR it..it's cool...then it stays in VTEC until I let off at 135...I looked at the photo and I think the car can do more than 140mph easy. I didn't max out 5th gear yet and there was about 800rpm left before redline. I think I woulda hit 145 too if I held on longer..but I don't think that was a smart decision to do that fast anyway...AND to try to snap a pic...deadly foolish..

I hit 137 in my G 2 weekends ago when some punk in a riced out G20 wanted to hang....needless to say, he topped out at about 105. The car tracked like it was on rails at that speed.

I noticed your temp meter. Your car runs pretty cool. My TL seems to run just below the midway point. Does everyone elses engines run as cool as DDT?

 

I hit 156 in my chipped s4 once. It felt super stable though, all german cars do.

 

Imagine the Germans comute at THAT speeds.. 120+ MPH... for like an hour!

 

Maybe it's just at night or something... cause my temp guage is a lot higher than that during the day...

I have done 135mph in my old 95 Z28 6 speed... but never in the CL... top speed I gone upto is 120...

At 135mph in the Z28 was scary too.. and that was with wider tires, and better suspension then the stock CLS supension. Don't even think about hitting one of those road divider/reflector thingys....

i hit 130 in my 3.0, not scary at all, i want to go much faster, it took way long to get up there

 

same here I got her up to about 142 and it was still climbing I was more scared of going straight to jail if I got caught. the 6 speed is a monster in 4th gear in 5 it drags and 6 is gas saving only.

 

when i get my new tires i'll show mine buried....

 

I've hit 145ish...I did it on the stock wheels and tires....For some reason....I think that the 19"s would be more unstable than the stock set-up

 

I hit one 140 in my cl-p. I slowed it down cause I was on the 5 south and I see people get pulled over all the timel.

i drove 120+ for 2 hrs, from sac to fresno in the middle of the night. and ive also hit the limiter twice, havent done it in over a year though. i dont think its stable enough right now. lol. i trusted the stock setup better than what it is right now.

 

i've tried to hit the limiter 3 times in my cl-s, fell short at 140 twice and ran out of room at 145 once

Hit 146 in 5th gear in my 6speed with my friend in the passenger seat, fully stock, and ran out of room to shift to 6th but she was still pulling and running about 6500 rpms at that speed, dunno if its governed at 147 like the autos...anyone know?

 

Mine is about the same.

It usually runs at 4 ticks below middle. On the very hottest of days (maybe about 100ºF) with the A/C always on auto and set at 69ºF or 70ºF, the guage maybe has gone up to three ticks below middle. I'll sometimes see it fluctuate between these couple ticks when the engine is loaded with A/C and it's hot out.

 

Damn, you fuckers that take it more than 140mph has got to have some metal objects in your nut sack...and to be able to claim you are not scared...AND STILL RACING AT THAT SPEED...you must have the racing genes...

Next time take a picture going at your 140mph+ speeds...I think when you have one hand on the steering wheel and the other trying to snap your speedo, it will give you a chilling feeling...

as for the temperature, what you guys mean? Its always been like that even when we had 93F weather up here in Seattle...I mean i drove like normal in that weather and the temp has always been that way...

And this early morning, the temperature was between 53-57...The car is stock...even the fluids..

I was in D4 and it was still pulling. I forget what the rpm's were at. Going 145 I was focusing too much on the road.
