I took my "S" to new heights **pics**

I just took the first road trip since I've had the car (12 months). I also finally broke 32mpg. Hope you enjoy!

You got 32mpg? How did you arrive at said #? How many miles with how many gallons?

I can't believe anyone gets even 30mpg with this car .. I can't get better than 25mpg doing all highway.

I didn't believe it either, then I went for a ride during Easter Sunday. Drove at an average of 80 MPH and got just a hair over 30 MPG. I thought the reports were a lot of BS. I was getting up to 21 MPG with freeway mixed in and a low of about 13 MPG with my foot stuck in it.

I think the main difference -- in that ride -- was never pushing down hard on the pedal (very hard to do).

BTW -- In my "Local Urban Cycle": (10 miles takes about 30-45 minutes, both my wife's '95 Altima and my car get similar 13-17 MPG). If the car is sitting at an intersection every 100 feet and idling, what can be expected, without going to a gas-electric-hybrid?

BTW2 -- a longer "death run" with combined freeway, highway, small towns, and mountain climb and descent at "insane" speeds netted about 20 MPG.

I got 32.5 MPG on a trip up to Canada last year.

You should have parked next to that road sign marked 6,684FT and checked the calibration of the NAV.

346 miles/10.8 gal. = 32.03 mpg

Not bad with a dirty air filter and climbing 3000ft. in elevation to the hotel.

Unfortunatly that wasn't possible. The sign was actually a marker at the top of the mountain. Picture #2 was as far as you could drive. You had to hike all the rest of the way to the summit.

I just filled her up 14.5 Gal @ 330 miles = 22.76 MPG with a mixed HW and city driving. Still better than the winter 17-18 MPG I was getting. However I used to fill Premium 93 @ $1.599/Gal, now I filled her at 1.759 or 10% more!

I believe that 32+ is possible. Last summer I got 31+ on trips between Las Vegas and Denver and Denver/Portland/Denver, and Denver/Beaumont, Texas..

I believe because I did it.

I also got 30 on my way down to O.C. Maryland last year.

Normally I see 18-22 like everyone else here, but when you stay at a steady “reasonable” speed like 70-75 our car sips gas like a 4-cylinder civic.
