I took an Impala today

I was going to Publix to pick up some tuna for the cat and this Impala comes up from behind me. I didn't know that he wanted to go until I gave it alittle gas to get him going. Well that did it and he blew by me, I guned it and stayed with him. I knew that he was gonna catch the light that was up ahead, cause I never get it green.
At the light I was behind him. I took off my TC and threw it into SS. The light turned green and I knew that he was gonna floor it. I gave him a half sec and I floored it. I drafted off of him till about 4.5K in second grear, switch lanes, red lined in second and shifted. I crept by him by about 5-8 miles faster than him. And as the RPMs got higher and higher, he got smaller and smaller in my rear view.
All and all, I'll be running more errands in the future .

Can you clarify please? What kind of Impala was this. I hope it isn't one of those new ones.

Don't Sell Yourself Short

I've rented a few 01 Impalas, I don't know how many models are available in the line, but i know it was a v-6 and not the SS if there is one yet for the current model, but they are all pieces of shit and no comaprison period to a CL no less a type S. I've dogged everyone i've got and to say the lease, they are decent pieces of shit of, but no comparison to a CL, TL for that matter. I'm sure you had fun running your errands that day, but don't act so suprise about the capabilites of your machine, Impala? come on.

That's why I asked what kind of Impala it was, maybe it was the last Impala SS, or maybe a vintage 409? You're right though, beating the current car is not really anything notable.

It was an SS Impala, probably a 96.
Ah 'Rise' with Flowmasters and a fat bitch in an SS I really think that u could take her. Her rolls would cancel out the hp effect of the Flowmasters. BTW this SS Impala seemed to be bone stock, no exhaust from what I saw.

If only GM would put a LT1 in the 2001 Impalas... But they won't. Because they are stoo-pid!
A 2001 Impala, with a tuned suspension and LT1 engine IMO could compete with the M5... What do you think?

Scorpius... what are we gonna do with you??? Never in a million years would I have ever expected someone to say something like that and be serious, but then you are the person who's mentioned numerous times that you think a Buick Century is a decent car. So its really hard to read you....

Anyways....

I'm sure GM would try to market an Impala with a tuned suspension and an LT1 against cars that are so far out of its league it's not funny (like the aforementioned M5). But in reality, it would merely be an Impala with a tuned suspension and a V8 which is an entirely different thing than a race-bred, german-engineered driving machine. And that's high praise coming from me cuz everyone knows I generally think Bimmers are pretty ordinary cars.

Maybe with an LS1 at Z06 spec, but not an LT1.

But then again, why would GM do that?

The quote about the Impala becoming an M5 competitor pretty much answers that question.

JZ U've got to be joking

How the hell could an boat like the SS Impala compete with an M5? My CLS tore it a new asshole that day, and its gonna compete with BMW? Yea if its stripped and gutted. Hell so could our CLSs don't up right.
