I think my IACV is crapping out

Few weeks ago my car was idling low when i stopped, the infamous, drop to around 500rpm and then cycle back up to 750rpms, then my CEL light went on and it was TPS code. Cleared the code and a day later it cleared up. Well on Sat nite, it came on again.

My questions and options are should I: #1 clean the IACV and throttle body #2 just suck it up and buy a new throttle body (when looking at acuraoemparts.com it shows the it includes the throttle bodt, iacv and maf sensor...am I correct in looking at the diagram?) #3 just replace the iacv

I dont know, I am thinking it would be worth it to spend the extra 150 or so and just get the whole throttle body which would include a new TPS and MAF sensor if i am reading the diargram right.

Is it common when the iacv is clogged or dirty it will throw a code for the TPS, I understand they kind of work together since it is located under the throttle body.

Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I don't know about the TPS sensor part, but I'd definitely try to clean the IACV and TB first.

$5 for a can of cleaner and a little elbow grease is a good bet to try first.

A new TB only has the TPS sensor on it. The IAC is replaceable, & there is no MAS.
You should take the TB off it's not very hard to do, & clean with some carb cleaner like gumout.

Make sure you get the right cleaner... I learned the hard way. I cleaned it with o2 sensor cleaner and it was jumping for 500 to 1700 when it wasnt doing it before. I had it off so i said what the hell and cleaned it. I had to buy a new one.

I cleaned my IACV with brake cleaner and it began to work fine after that.

I kept having problems with the car's idle going from 1000 up to 2000 then back down to 1000 and repeating that process over and over again. After I cleaned it it was back to normal.

If your TPS sensor is starting to go you will have problems with your car bucking back and forth while in lower gears at around 2500-4000rpm. At least that's what happened to me when somehow the wires came undone. Eventually the car's full throttle response disappeared and it was useless. I resoldered the wires and everything was fine!

Also take some wd40 and just give it a real quick spray (the IACV) it will help it stay lubricated.

Get an oil catch can to, or at least do something about those breather lines with the oil coming through them, perhaps you can try some hsky air compressor filters.

To clean the IAC valve, do I have to take the TB off or is it something I can do by just openning the hood?

If you have some 90deg. angled screw drivers you can take it off the TB from underneath it without removing the TB or IM.

Is there anything important I should know before trying to take off the throttle body or IAC valve?

Sorry to thread jack, but my car dies when it's cold whenever I go into neutral. It runs perfectly and then suddenly just dies. After it dies and I try to restart it, it has trouble. Could this be the IACV? I just replaced the primary o2 and the MAP sensor.
