I think I'm going to do it...

Well, I think I'm about to enter the CL-S realm.

I need advice. I've decide to get a loan, instead of leasing. I need opinions on what I should pay for a CL-S (Aegean Blue) w/ navi. I'm in the Chicago area.

I'm thinking about starting a bidding war between Acura of Orland Park and McGrath Acura of Westmont. Is contacting them via. the internet the best way? I really don't want to talk to them until I'm absolutely ready to buy...

What should my price be for the car? I can go well north to Libertyville, IL and get the car for 3% over invoice. May not be anything to write home about, but it's a good point to start at least?

Basically, I'm looking for ANYTHING to help me get a good deal. I'm heading out for the night, so I'll check in tomorrow morning and what everyone thinks. I'm guessing that anything under 31K is a good deal? Also, does anyone think they'll throw in the mud guards for free?

Looking forward to joining the family...

McGrath Acura

Go to McGrath Acura in Glenview. My family has bought 7 Acuras from this place and they treat us like Gods. See Doug Bushman (847) 998-8000. Tell him the (Joe) Kahn Man sent you and he will know exactly who I am. Plus I'll get $100 referral out of the deal! Seriously though, he is a great guy and will not screw you over. You can always service it in Westmont if that is more convenient for you.

For 2001 or 2002?

For 2002, don't pay anything more than $500 over invoice. INVOICE. You might even want to print out the thread on this site about the dwindling CL sales. Just tell them that, you know sales aren't good. You're in the market to buy NOW ASAP. (You might sweeten the deal if you give them the financing if it's pretty similar for you at a bank) Say you know from talking with ppl on this site that you know what other people have been buying it for and that you are GOING STRAIGHT to the next dealer if no deal. He might try to stall you so if he doesn't come back in like 5-10 min, just leave and tell someone (another sales guy or sales manager in area) that you're tired of waiting and that you're leaving. 95% chance, they'll come running after you. If they say they can't do it, trust me, go to another dealer, you'll get your deal. DON'T LISTEN TO ANY BULL SHIT ABOUT ADDITIONAL FEES OTHER THAN TRANSFER AND LICENSE FEES. NO ADVERTISING, OVERHEAD, REGIONAL OFFSET, NONE OF THAT!!!

Don't get the extended warranty (never a good deal), don't get the undercoat (useless), don't get anything. If you want anything, you can get it aftermarket for much cheaper. The spoiler at dealer is 700+, aftermarket is 450-500 w/ labor. Tinting is cheaper too. Go and kick some ass.

Well I just bought my 2002 CL-S with no NAV system for
$800 over invoice a month ago.

I love it!

Except for the lame ass road lamps, wish I had realized that
before!

We have better seats than the TL-S though!!!!

And after all the numbers have been crunched, you offer $800 to $1,000 for the extended warranty....

I got mine back in July for $250 over invoice....but add to that the spoiler for and additional $250 (installed). I agree with the above posts...don't take any B.S. Stick to your guns. I left the dealer after 15-20 minutes of dealing...they told me my number was too low. I left...when I got home there was a message on my machine from the dealer that said they would do my deal. Be informed on the #'s game, and don't stay with the salesman too long...if the salesman takes too long, walk out. If they want to sell it, believe me, they will make the deal.

Should I tell them that I'm really to buy NOW??? Any other advice?

Thanks!

I know you were serious, but I had to laugh because that's happened to me so many times. Next time I should just give them my cell phone number and wait in the car for 10 minutes.

Car salesmen.. gotta love the effort.

I sent two messages out yesterday to two different dealers, and I'm still waiting to hear back from both.

I'm beginning to re-think the whole Aegean Blue color. I currently have two Silver cars, and they hide dirt extremely well. And scratches too.. The post that discusses "What color is the best" is NOT helping!!! Red would be nice, but again, it shows scratches.

Grrrrr.... If life wasn't so complicated.

I went with Silver on my CLS I got 1.5 years ago ... I suspect I will go with the same as I move to the 6-speed this spring.

I took a look at the Aegean Blue on the web site, but unless it blows me away in person I am afraid it is a "trendy" color... oh well ... it still looks cool and looks better than silver if both are clean I think

I put down about $14k, and i pay $349/mo for 5 years (financed). I just refinance my loan through peoplefirst.com at 6.75%. I bought my car in the summer, about 3 interest rate drops ago, so the dealer was giving me 7.29%, so I refinanced. I don't know too much about leasing, but your deal sounds pretty good.....
