I Need info on OBX Gaskets?

just bought OBX stainless Steel headers from dailod (real nice guy). I wanted to know if the honda accord gaskets are useable with the cl-s s v6 headers. can Any one who is knowledgeable with honda and acura parts please inform me on how many gaskets to get and the proper names of the gaskets (exhaust manifold)? Acura charges $30 each and Honda charges $20 each. I'm gonna need at least 2 gaskets, so.

rondog, the OBX headers come with gaskets, they are just fine...some people here say they are crap but i dont know what they are baseing that thought on. I used the OBX gaskets for the header install..they are much thicker and heavier than the OEM stock gaskets, the OEM gaskets are like cheap paperthin sheetmetal or something, i wouldnt worry about the gaskets, you might as well just use the OBX gaskets, there is no problem with them whatsoever.

and the price you quoted for the gaskets from the dealer, that seems really high, others will correct me if im wrong but dont those usually sell for like 5 bucks a piece or something in that ballpark. in any case though, as i said, i truely beleive the OBX furnished gaskets are more than acceptable.

I've heard of people useing the stock gaskets and not hearing any noise after hearing the noise with the OBX gaskets. I don't mind using the OEM gaskets for a little peace of mind. Hey darrinb, how much of a difference do you feel with the sound and performance of the OBX heads? I need a real accurate description, i'm so anxious to get mine in.

darrin, i think you may have a misunderstanding as far as what the resonance is and what it sounds like.

the reason i say this is because the "resonance" as we call it, isnt something that comes and goes, it occures in a certain RPM range, usually between 2300 and 2800 and it is CONSISTANT. by consistant, i mean it happens every single time you are in that RPM range regardless of how long youve had the headers on, how the weather is, etc.

I can say, however that the resonance in my car (and a few others with headers, either comptech or OBX) has gotten louder over time.

its really hard to describe exactly what it is and what it sounds like, but if you heard it, you would know, maybe you are expecting someting different and arent hearing the subtle resonance right now? i dunno. but what i do know is that this resonance effects every CL-S with headers, whether comptech or OBX and its amplified with the use of a CAI or removal of the stock intake resonator.

I have personally heard at least 4 CL-S with headers, 3 were comptech and mine is OBX...all 4 sounded exactly the same with the same resonance....i dont think that the resonance has anything to do with the brand name of the headers or the gasketst, i think its just simply what happens when you open up the exhaust with headers...instead of the cast iron, THICK exhaust manifolds (which were probably designed to keep noise down) you now have thin Stainless Steel with no sound insulating in the design whatsoever, so i think the resonance is just the nature of the headers....

rondog, there are 2 gaskets, they go between the engine block and the flange of the header...one on each header bank.

Pay the extra money for OEM gaskets....if your car is fairly new, you can re-use your own ones. You need 2 exhaust manifold gaskets.

i guess it dont really matter what gaskets you use,

rondog, i wrote up a lil review on the headers in car talk. you feel the extra power above 4k alot the first day you get em, had em on for like 3 days now and i think i punched it so many times i got used to the new speed, it just feels normal now. car sounds a lil for deeper or throatier too.
