I need a floor jack.

Damn lowering springs settled I guess. I can no longer fit my floor jack under the front jack points. I was able too a few months ago. Oh well. I need a new floor jack. I don't need something overboard. It has to be small, & compact like my current one. Any suggestions? Or can I mod the one I have, only need less then 1 inch more clearence.

you dont need a jack man you just need some ramps...

build some out of wood like i did... or just drive up onto some 2" thick slabs of wood. either way... you dont need ot go buy a jack.

if you insist on spending money go invest in a set of ramps. $20-40

do they make ramps with enough of a low angle to get a lowered car on them?

Fuck that get a racing jack. They're mad light. I saw one at Costco. All aluminum, weights like 15 lbs. 3 inches where the seat of the jack is and one Pump raises it 28 inches. That's what I'm getting for xmas.

You can get ramps and extension for like $40. Now getting the CLS on the ramps needs a guide a helper to help you drive the CLS on the ramps. Once up there you can do tons of stuff!

we couldn't fit our 3 ton jack under my front end so what we ended up doing is using a 2 ton jack on passenger side and once it was up a bit we moved the 3 ton underneath and brought her all the way up. The of course we pulled out the 2 ton and placed a jack stand under each front passenger and driver side jackpoint.

ok first of all... only an idiot needs someone to help them drive onto ramps.

second... yes plenty of ramps are low enough and if yours ARENT then MAKE YOUR OWN. it took me 5 minutes to make ramps out of 4 pieces of scrap wood from my parents old fence.

third... they dont make any racing jacks that fit under my car without ramps.

fourth... racing jacks do not raise the car 28 inches in one pump. the jack raises 28 inches in one pump until it encounters a load. then you still gotta jack it up.

man... what would any of you do if you had a REAL drop on your cars? just stare at it and say "wish i had a lift"???

this isn't a hard dilemma here.

How bad is it when your jack points on the sides bend up?

This shit happened to me today when I lowered my car and for some reason, both front jack "slits" got bent up...but I can still lift from that area (ie. from the frame).

I see what you’re saying Adam, but it’s not as easy as you make it seem.
A SLUSH-BOX CL maybe, but the clutch on the 6-Speed is “touchy” and it’s real hard to creep slowly up the ramps.
It’s not good for the clutch either if you’re slipping like crazy.

Plus, how are you gonna rotate your tires if you don’t have a good floor jack?
Can’t to THAT with ramps.

The plastic "Rhino Ramps" are nice for a lowered car. Also I just got one of the aluminum race jacks at harbor frieght for $149. Expensive for a floor jack but a good deal on the aluminum one. Last thing I used it for was installing springs so I don't know if it still fits or not.
Getting up on ramps isn't that hard if you have the kind of ramps that have a stop to keep you from going over the edge. I have a friend though that always fries his clutch getting on them. Don't think I'd want a helper. I like to know where I put the ramps.

what are you talking about???

nobody said anything about using ramps instead of a fucking jack you putz...

the problem is he couldnt get his jack under his car without riding up on something.

and if your having trouble getting on ramps with your 6spd then you need to go back to a slushbox.

LIKE I SAID ANYWAY... DRIVE UP ONTO A COUPLE FAWKIN PIECES OF WOOD. PROBLEM SOLVED.

You dont need a new jack!!!
all you gotta do is take out your little factory jack, jack up one side enough to get your current floor jack under there!
thats what I do. And I do have those rhino ramps, even with the CT drop, I need 2x4s to clear the bumper.

just use a block of wood, or a brick, drive the wheel on it. and then you have enough room

There are some low profile jacks out there (hey, they use 'em in nascar), but it'll set you back some $$.

Driving up on a couple of peices of wood works for me (I'm a cheap bastard)

OK guys thanks, I used soopa's suggestion, & drove the drivers side wheel up "somthing" just enough to get the jack under it. I bought a set of low profile rubberized ramps from Autozone. Had to take one out of the store to see if it fit, I have just enough clearance. Oh yeah take note, don't use a plastic computer foot rest to drive up on, even it it does look like a ramp
