I keep having flashbacks in this forum...

We are now on the second genration Cl's being purchased by their second owners.

Did you take yours in to get resurfaced/replaced under warranty?

OK seriously, since we have so many experts on warped rotors here

This is a serious question.

I bought the car 3 weeks ago and the steering wheel has been moving and brake has been pulsing under hard braking. I've read every topic on this forum on this.

The dealer said if it's the rotors, he'll replace it, but not if it's the pads.

Does the car do this just if the rotors are messed up, or could it just be the pads?

It's not the pads, if vibration. But if your dealer tells you it is the pads, tell them to install the SUPER ABSORBENT WITH WINGS this time around, because it's not the damn pads.

Have them replace the rotors and pads with less metalic ones. I had them done 20k ago and I'm just now starting to feel very slight vibrations.

Yeah, I joined at night, but not last night.

I don't see any unever wear on the rotors. Can you actually see it with the eye or does it need to be inspected?

I got the extended Lexus dealership.

The Acura dealer told me that he wouldn't replace the rotors or the pads.

The Lexus dealer told me that if it's the rotors, he'd replace them, but not the pads.

They will have to be inspected, or you can take them off and see.

The TSB for the warped rotors indicates the pads should be changed at the time the rotors are cut/replaced as the pads are causing the problem. If the dealer is willing to replace the rotors, offer to get some pads for them to install at the time and negotiate a fair price on labor.

there was a bulletin on the pads too. I think the dealer should cover pads under warranty if there is vibration, they did on my first 6 speed at 10k miles, replaced all pads and rotors.

You have to be so careful with the rotors...isn't true that when they are warped they can cause many other front end components to wear out prematurely?

Warped rotors and most of the rattles should have been taken care of under warrenty by the first owner

Who ever gets my 2nd Gen 6spd will get a well sorted out car

Now I know how you guys felt when I joined the forum 1 1/2 years ago

P.S. I think that the smilie should be renamed :Chaptorial:

Alright, so I just bought this used CLS 2 weeks ago and on my way home on the highway when I was braking I realized the steering wheel was vibrating as was the brake pedal. It's been getting worse and worse.

Should the Lexus dealer cover this repair??? I mean the car was bought 2 weeks ago. Shouldn't they have inspected it better when they sold it? The brakes were fine when I was test driving it, but I wasn't going very high speeds.

Should the Lexus dealer cover it? They should stand behind what they sell, new or used.

AmooManiaK, forget about the Lexus dealer. Try going to an Acura dealer and getting them replaced under Acura's TSB.

Oh I've tried contacting this piece of s dealer.

He said that "the TSB is for newer vehicles" It's for "customers" who just bought their new Acura.

Mine were cut front and rear, and pads replaced about a month and a half ago, they warped in about 22K miles. They are warped again one and a half months later Rotoras and ultimates will be here tomorrow, I dont have time to deal with these shitty stock brakes.

There is always something to learn , I have Brembos and I still get shudders under braking, but also at high freeway speeds. But that is because its due to bent or slightly off rims. Much more common with larger aftermartket. But still a possible cause with the OEMs.
