I hit 140mph!

Car felt like is was going to fall apart after 120, however, I took it up near 140 then backed off.

Damn, I took my car up to 130+ and I had no shakes what-so-ever, It was all good until I felt the car slip a bit on a random wetspot on I95....I never felt so scared and I have never taken the car up that high since....Lesson Learned

i hit 140 for the 1st time on I95 in CT bout a month ago at like 2AM...car felt like it was floating 6 inches off the ground...did NOT feel safe at all...quickly got down to 120 where it felt awesome again...kinda weird how the whole car can feel completely different between 120 and 140...the headers give such a boost in 4th...really pulls hard, so i was shocked when i saw i was going so fast

Something is wrong if it felt like it was going to fall apart. Get your tires balanced. I took my right to the shutter box at 147 twice and it felt the same as 100. It was still pulling pretty good at 147, so I wonder how fast it will go with out that chip in there?

I have a spoiler also. I'm pretty sure it actually does serve a function at those speeds, wh0 knows. Anyway, the car is fine up till 115 or so, then it starts to shake. I would think if the tires were out of balance I would feel it at 70-80mph also.

Smitty,
you should have your suspension looked at. Car shouldn't feel like it's going to fall apart.

Damn, you guys got balls to take it so fast! I'm planning a drive to LA and then to SF this coming weekend and I will try to take my car up there, but I doubt I will be anywhere near 140 mph! I'll take it up to 100 or 110 and I think that's about it. To me, it's not worth the risk of losing traction and wiping out somewhere...especially since I have these sucky stock tires.

I wonder if the spoiler accounts for some having very high speed stability... somehow we should do a poll about this question.

I agree. The car feels floaty at high speeds. I went 145 and it felt like the car wanted to lift off the ground...very scarry.

i hit the limiter a few times on stock tires/wheels, it read 147ish, but with the 19's the speed goes up to 150+ is it just the difference in diameter? pr0bally huh. anyway. ive done this 5-6 times. i guess im a speed freak.

I've hit like 135ish....then I thought about the fines I COULD GET, so I backed off. A friend of mine got busted doing 147mph in a 55mph zone. He got arrested and fined $3000....NO THANK YOU!!!

My brother used to have a '92 NSX. We drove it from Indy to Portland, OR 5 years ago. When we hit Montana, it was 135+ for 5-10 minutes or so. 85 mph never seems so slow before.

I have been a firm believer that that spoiler does serve some function at high speed stability. My 2001 with a spioler felt as though it was stuck to the ground at speeds > 140. At that time I did not have anti sway bars by neuspeed. Nowwith the 2003 6 speeder no spoiler and now I have the antisway bars on the car, I feel as the car is not quite as stable at the same speeds. Note, not a huge differencelike the car is going to fall apart but it feels lighter.
I have noticed that some peeps are firm that the spoiler does not help on a fwd car. My thought is that maybe they simply are not able to drive fast enough to tell. As for my very own personal opion, I believe in them and will get one on my 2003. For what it is worth and I hope this helps. My
Ohh and by the way banging the governer is getting old so I found that I like to keep it about 145 and cruise...

When I had stock springs 145 was plain scary. I was racing a Maxima on the turnpike and no it was not pleasant. Under 120 it was OK, after 120 it got a little light.

After I got the springs 145 felt much more stable but then again it could have been the road I was on, much flatter.

just to let you know, leave in the A.M. i've had groups of cars and me cruising at 100 mph all the way up the 5 from l.a. to S.F. There will literally be a pack of like 20 cars doing 100 mph. It's a great drive

planes take off at that speed, lower the car and you'll be in better shape

How many miles do you have on your 03CL-S that you could be doing this type of speed? Be nice to the car in the early stages of the break-in period. I have one and it's hard to resist the temptation to do a WOT acceleration, but its a must to avoid the incident if you want your car to be reliable in the future.
