Driving to work this morning i see a black 350z with tints roll up on me on the highway(just had my headers put on on monday). I rev up and pass him on the right than he revs up and passes me on the left...... so now we get side by side.... i go to ss mode and we slow to about 40 (midway through 2nd gear and we both take off he pulls for a second than my needle rises on the tack i hit vtec and start to pull like a fat man with a donout dangling in front of him...... i am almost in fornt of him i push up to shift into 3rd and my car just bounces off the rev limiter. Damn that stupid ss mode so i throw it into d5 but the car is stuck in second gear so i slowly start to limp off to the side of the highway. As i am pulling over the car finally goes into shifts out of second and my d5 light comes back on but by than the 350z is far ahead. I pass him as hes exiting and he gives me thumbs up..... I was definitly winning and could have raped him if i just left it in auto..... sorry guys my lack of ss experience cost the cls a sure victory. Flame on

You can get into first, but only if you are going under 30mph (around, may not be exact). If you are going under 30mph (will shift to second at 9mph normal driving), all you have to do is slam on the gas and it will down shift into first in Shitty Shift mode...



Also, I got the PCM and P/R done the first time the replaced my tranny and I don't know if that is why I can do it now...

 

Kind of wierd thing today with my new AV4s... I was driving slow(around 25mph) in first gear (gate shifting) and when I got to up around 4800 rpms, I stepped on it while the vtec was engaging and it spun the tires. I never noticed that before with my Bridgeston HP50's.
Is this normal for these tires or did my Bridgestons have better traction?

 

I don't know about other Acuras but the CL is a funny car. If you want optimum response from your car you're going to have to just memorize the best spots on your RPM guage to downshift. I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to really test my CL S. But in my CL2.2 I had the whole powerband figured out and knew exactly when to get around the limiter. I smoked the hell out of an Eclipse once from a dig in my 2.2. At the next traffic light the dude in the Eclipse yelled out of the window "Is that a STICK?" I said "Nah, man. 4 spd automatic." He looked at me like this:

That 350z would have smoked you anyway it was a auto probably what kind of headers do you have?

 

since we're talking about drag racing here i got to say there is no downshifting involved in a drag race. you should already be in the optimum gear for the start. if someone does a ricer flyby and you downshift to hunt them down then its really not a race to begin with.

Nope. It's not a true drag race because they're already rolling. He didn't specify what speed he was going but the fact that he failed at using ss mode properly means he needs more practice and he also wasn't engaged in an authentic digg from a green light, 0-60 and above drag race. With the kind of car he's in, then yes he should have already had his car in the right RPM range and gear to race.

eh its happened to me racing nissans with 3.5L lol only with nissans tho. it gets stuck in 2nd gear and wont go into 3rd.
