I hate Car Sales Manager
So, I went in to Acura in Tukwila/Sea-Tac and went through all the BS.
They offered me $12,000 on a 98 4 door EX with 55K miles. For the 01 CL-S, he first wrote $33,500 and then said that the invoice on the car was $29,300 and needed to make a profit. I assume he wanted at least $30,000.
Needless to say, I am still hunting and will try a different dealer.

They are dealing on the leftover 2001 CL-S's here in Oregon.
Do you know, any time you have a trade- in involved in the transaction, it's just another tool in the dealerships favor. It's just another dollar figure for them to manipulate.
Try going to the Kelly Bluebook site ( www.kbb.com ) and check out their advice about purchasing a new car. They have some info on trading in vs. selling yourself.
I have been advised to make the deal on the purchase price first,.After a number has been agreed on, the rest of the transaction can proceed (how you are going to pay for it ,trade in price). If you don't have a number nailed down first, it leaves a number that can change as other parts of the deal are introduced.
By posting this I am in no way implying that you don't know these things already.

The Manager was just being a d*ck.
The wholesale on my car is $12,500 with retail $16,200
First he tries $33,500 on the car (no nav btw), then offers me $12,000 on my car. Guess he did not want to deal.
Brack: if you get the Sunday paper, can you see if any of the dealers are offering a blow out on CL-S. With the 01, I figure I can deal a bit more.

You could call Acura of Portland, ask if John Frentsos is working, mention my name, Mike Brackenbrough from Seaside, and say you would like a CL Type-S for the same price as they sold me one for last New Years Eve,$27,999. That was the ad price then
The only special they have advertised this weekend is a 39 month lease. $319 per month. $2552 cash or trade due at inception.
toll free 1-877-408-3325 Talk to John and let him know I talked him up big.

Brack.
When I first starting looking, I think that you helped me then.
Will try that, though right now am being totally dumped with work.
If I get the car in Portland, you will have to let me buy dim sum...
Maybe we can get some members to show up for that as well.
