How much HP at the crank will a CL-S gain with intake/headers/and exhaust mods? I would assume somewhere over the ~300 hp mark. So around 40 crank HP?

I'd say 40 with CAI, headers and lightweight crank pulley.

at crank i would say about 50-55hp...yes 6 cyns. does response better than 4 cyns. but due to the weight of our car, you wont feel a huge gain, but definetly smoother accelerlation.

IHE I doubt it's 300 at the crank. A dyno with only those mods, maybe a few more only yeilds the 235hp range at the wheels. Unless you have a freak of nature like a few here do have.

To help clarify this a little more... A stock CLS will dyno at around 200whp, fuzzy's remark about "235hp" is Wheel Horse Power with i/h/e. So, you gain about 35 to the wheels. Not bad. On a CLS though, the exhaust part won't get you but a few ponies. Not worth it IMHO unless you just want the looks and sound from it.

EDIT: Welcome to AZ!

300 crank minus 20% drive train = 240 so close to 300 and every bit of 290

I would say you would be really close to 300 at the crank. Comptech has a dyno of an 01 CLs with headers and exhaust and it maxed out at 232 at the wheels. You figure the intake should be good for another 6-8 whp. That should translate to just around 300 hps at the crank.

I vote....Get a supercharger!

However, you'll definitely want to get at least want to get the headers first. The exhaust doesn't add much hp, but sure does sound nice I'm pretty sure that the supercharger comes with a Comptech Icebox though, so that's some money you could save on your intake if you choose to go that route. If you're not planning on going with the supercharger though, definitely get an intake and headers. You'll be happy you did

P.S.

you know...after careful thought, if I ever got another CL, I would supercharge it firs, I regret not doing it to this one after looking back at how much money i've put in to it. But now its to late and has to many miles (longevity>performance)

I don't know if it would be the first thing I do. I would still start out with the intake and headers. Then I'll go with the supercharger and pulley.

doh!! I figured I would already have all that stuff, but I'd go for a 6spd most likely, which means I'd have to buy all of it over again.

If you plan to go S/C, I'd just wait on the intake as it's included with the S/C.

35whp is pretty impressive.. at least compared to like 15-20whp you'd net on a 4 banger

I think I'm gonna get my car on a dyno just to see what I put down with every bolt on N/A. I'll post results in the dyno section.

Skip the exhaust, it's only worth a couple of ponies. Headers are where it's at. They all net about the same gain, but installing comptechs will give you a bigger woodie.

I would go with Thermoblock spacers first.

I would get thermoblock spacers from www.outlawengineering.com or excelerate. This will give you 3whp or just a total of 5hp. The other cooling mods from my understanding will help prevent hp loss at high temperatures. I think the other cooling mods help prevent about a 7 hp loss under hot temperatures. You only gain hp with TB spacers, but you retain the hp you have with the other cooling mods.
