I cannot stand my rattling dashboard!

Has anyone removed the top of the dash? I would like to put some material between the upper dash and what it fits below. I am only concerned with how to remove it while leaving the airbag cover in tact. Is this possible? It is especially bad now that its cold. Thanks in advance.

Why would you want to mess with it? My CLS used to suffer from the very same rattle. I took my car back to the dealer and had them fix it. I haven't heard the rattle again since they added some insulation between the gauge binacle and the top padding. Oh yeah, no cost to fix it!

Wasn't the dash rattle fixed by adjusting the stoppers for the hood in the engine bay? I think that what I did for it. There was a little movement in the hood so I raised the stopper a little (turn it) and it was gone!

Try it out.

Be careful messing around w/ the airbag area. My cover had started to peel up in one corner, so I took it to the dealer to have it warrantied. They did warranty it, but the cover is permanently conncected to the entire passenger SRS system, so they could not just give me a new cover. They had to order a whole new system! The invoice amount for the part was like $1,200....you definately do not want to end up having to pay for that!

If my dash rattled like that, I would just dump the car off at the dealer and say "Fix it, because I can't live with this rattle." Metal does contract and expand due to temperture differences, but I don't think that's the case here.

My dealer tried to fix my dash rattle 3 times, but it still rattles! I pretty much gave up on them, it's too much trouble to take my car in just to get it back with the same problem. So lately, when ever my dash starts rattling, i just punch it and it stops for a day or 2. It's a temporary fix, but it works better than the dealers "fix".

Don't give up! I had similar dashboard rattle when weather turned cool. After dealer called to say they didn't hear rattle I:

1. Asked to drive car in area around dealership to find roads which would cause dash rattle.

2. After locating roads, I returned to dealer and had a service tech ride with me so he could hear & locate.

3. Then returned to dealer and they fixed by securing clamps, etc on AC ducts and installing foam under dash cover.

Results have been good. I'm so glad dealer resolved. Now if only the sunroof could be made quiet and I've already had tape kit installed.

Only problem with car (bought May, 01 27,000 miles) has been rattle related. Shame on Honda/Acura. Hoping transmission holds together. I was hoping to keep 10 years/120,000 miles but with trans problems I may sell before extended warranty expires.
