Good job TypeR. Our new hero... or should we say "Floridian mole!!"

Please post any info, as it seems Doug's either a very busy man, or has been abducted by martians.

field report one:
not good news, apparently the first run wasnt to speck: and this casting process is the most important part ,as thousands will be run from one cast...well maybe hundreds....so...5 weeks more or less more waiting
this new part doug mentioned last time, will work with res to give additional gains...doug said the 6MT will be 280hp, and the gain is a result of similar work that he's doing on this new part let the waiting continue...

also a picture of the part for the j30a

TypeR,

Ask Doug if the RES is going to have the same hp, as the ones that were dynoed.

the RES dyno'ed were the production versions...they were gonna be made in magnesium...but too much error in the cast...too bad would have been super light...

well i think it would drive the cost down. if the original price was for the magnesium, then you'd think he'd pass the savings on to us.

Well - I don't know if I am the only one that cares - but I think the 280 or 295 for the 6MT sounds like reality! Guess I wasn't kidding when I said RES would be included in the 6MT - so I guess syncivic's patent did not protect from Acura doing a similar approach?

One more thing - does this also mean a torque bump for 03 6MT CLS???

again i appologize for not being clear...the gain for the 6mt is from work similar to the new mysterymod...not the current RES....so we have more inexpensive power coming from my GOD doug and the new mystery mod is more like 100$ but im laughing as i type this...more waiting more stress more...shit... but they do work together and hell. for another 100$ to get similar gains...man we are really starting to see potential for power...i love it...thanks doug...now back to work...i need power

oh ya i was supposed to mention, on a completly different topic...anyone concidering..." the turning a cl/tl-P into a type S" just installing the S cam and not changing springs and retainers and perhaps a couple other parts can result in the need for an enitre new engine...i think doug said he had a valve break and fall into the engine ...end result wasnt good...

As always, thanks so much for the taking the time to get some fresh info, TypeR.

This new mod sounds great. Hopefully all goes well with Doug's casting issue's...

The quest for ~325 NA crank HP sounds more and more attainable...

yes you missed something...doug said the 6mt will be 280hp and the way they(acura) get there extra hp is not from res...but from something similar to what doug is working on now that should give similar gains as res works with res and only costs 100$

Yes, and for the half the cost. He mentioned $150. Same gain... in the range of 15lb.ft 15 HP. I would ADD to the gains of RES.

That would be nice..... for $450 you can get 30 lbft. Add a CAI and Headers and here is you poor man SuperCharger. for less than $1,750 you can see a dyno with 250-260 wheel HP and hopefully, and wheel torque of 215-220 lbft.

The only problem is that it takes at least 6 months to get mod out of SynCivic.... Waiting feels bad....

Ok so we have the RES wich will be out in 5 weeks (maybe) 300

Then we have a new MM that doug is working on that will work WITH the RES and is the same way Acura got more HP on the 6spd and it will be 100

Well shit....BRING IT ON!!!!!

It's interesting that he switched over to aluminum for the RES. I wonder if that means that each part is going to be individually milled out instead of cast since milling is usually done with aluminum since it's soft. I wonder if this will have any effect on the performance and wear characteristics of the part.

Not to say anything bad about the progress of the piece, but we do a lot of in-house milling and with computer assisted drawing programs etc. there should be no reason why a competent machinist could not get this piece right the first time.

Hell, if I had the plans I could have our machinist mill one out for me in 2 days!

CARB -- syncivic said yes (when, I sure don't know)

RES -- Alteration of Plenum (air-chamber) size with some "tricks" makes for increase air-flow due to resonance (standing waves) caused by the reflected air pulses from each intake valve/port/runner. He designed a "chamber" that does a better job of increasing air-pressure and flow to those hungry cylinders (at ALL rpms).
