I bought 2003 CL-S 2 weeks ago

I bought 2003 Acura CL-S 5spd AT 2 weeks a go. Of course I started reading forum after I bought the car. All of the things about the transmission problems and recalls and odometer class action kind of disappointed me in my purchase. My CL is a type-s and it’s got 25k miles on it (pretty low) I bought it from Acura of Portland for $21k. Do you guys think I got ripped off? It seemed like a great deal at the time. Only 25k mile sounded like it would last me a long time. I read in the records of the car that it was recalled and fixed. First was the timing belt pulley. Water pump and timing belt changed. Second recall was a transmission. Something about 2nd gear. It said that it was fixed also. Owner-link also said that recall was fixed. Should I still be worried that the transmission will fail? I'll post some pics later. Oh and by the way the car was Acura certified.

You probably had the oil jet kit installed(second gear). They install a kit onto the tranny that shots etra tranny fluid into that gear because there is a posiblity that that gear will over heat causing it to slip.

I would cheak to see if you have a 50k or a 109k warranty on the tranny since you have a 2003. You can do this by calling acura care or by registering with acura owners link online and checking yourself.

$21k is high, even for 25k miles on it. you should be covered until 100k, so that's good.

that is definitely great mileage to buy a car with. and with this new class action suit going through, you'll be covered for quite a few years.

Welcome to the money pit.

On the plus side you have a car that should last you a while with that warranty. The minus side is I think you paid a bit more than you needed too for it.

I know I kind of paid a bit high, but I could not find a cls with less miles on it around my area. I also figured that I will put 10k miles on it next year by then it will have about 35k mile which would still be very low. Plus I have all of the records of this car. The owner before me kept the car best shape and always took it to the dealer. Thanks for all of the feedback

Some of them are. Find a dealership you trust. In fact, post where you're from and see if any of the other members here can point you to the right place to go get service.

I live in Portland Oregon and bought the car from DickHannah Acura of Portland. The service was ok. When I was buying the car the sales guy was very nice and promising that they would fix all of the small things that I would find. So I point out all of the things that I found. After I bought the car I had to fight with them to get those stuff fixed. So they finally did after me yelling at the stupid chick that was in charge of service. Then after she said that Acura will only do some of the things I said I want to talk to the manager. After I spoke to the manager he said that Acura will take care off all the problems. So that combed me down. But man what a pain. So any other good dealerships around in the area?

Welcome fellow Portlander!

I bought my CLS from Hannah, too. They are OK, but occasionally will disappoint. Ron Tonkin Acura is more mod-friendly, but they're on the west side, which is not as convenient for me.

Wow. Got my CL S for $17,300 minus the wing and NAVI (could care less) but that's it. The damn car is solid as a rock. Prices are lower in many areas down South anyway. Just gotta know where to look.

If you got navi and the extended warranty for that price, then its fine. Not the best deal, but close. Don't sweat it tho, now have some fun and enjoy the car, there is always somethign you might not like, but drive it and enjoy it. ANd let the modding begin!
