I am amazed by my CLS

well, had a little showdown with a modded VW VR6 3am in the morning on the way home from clubbing... I wasn't using SS just stayed in D5 automatic, we were head to head but I chickened out at a bit over 120mph since I have never gone so fast and there was a car ahead of me... but that is not the point, I was amazed that how calm and stable my CLS was at 120mph... yes, the VTEC engine was really revving loud, but besides that no trembling, no shaking, it felt like the car was smoothly guiding herself like the japanese magnetically suspended bullet train. Anyway, that encounter made learned:

1. i gotta mod my car asap...
2. never underesitmate a VW... they got awesome engine...
3. i love my car even more now...

I am sure it was a VR6... and I know that car was fast... we were head to head, I was probably 1/6 car length ahead for a brief period until i slowed down for the car ahead of me... dude, man I was nervous, never gone so fast on street road, my car was redlining... and I kept on my eyes on the road all the time, i peeked at my speedometer, the needle was spun all the way to the right, i figured it was about 120/130mph... but who knows...

I am sure VW had an exellent engine to keep up with my CLS.

You've never gone 120 mph before? Damn.

120 is like crusing speed for me, I don't even notice I'm going that fast. I start to think about it around 140+.

174 hp? I know it weighs less than a CL-S and has a manual tranny, but can it be that fast? Fast enough to hang with a Type-S?

I'm too afraid to go that fast. I don't weant points and I don't want a ticket, I don't want to kill anybody. People know if their can beat mine or not. I don't need to prove to anybody I'm better... I already know it!
Also, its colder than anything, I'm using a rented Buick, and I'm on stock tires. Another thing... If I ever have a jealous boyfriend or something chasing after me, I might need that car to be in the best of shape. I saw a show on the Discovery Channel abotu Marines?seals wor whatever using dune buggies. They didn't drive hard until they absolutly needed to. That way they have a fresh vehicle when they're in battle. Makes sense.

Is your vr6 stock? I guess the hp to weight ratio must be pretty good.

Just FYI, MOST cars will keep up with the CL-S or even gain on it after 108 MPH, which is when 3rd gear runs out. Once you hit 4th the gear ratio is so long you just don't pull that hard anymore. The VR6 is good, yes, but I suspect this had more to do with better gearing. My .02 cents.

We will be seeing more of that in the future when the 6speed autos start showing up.

I disagree. Right now, we basically have a 6-speed auto that's missing 4th gear. Future 6-speed autos will likely have the same gear ratios for 1-2-3, with our 4th and 5th becoming 5th and 6th, respectively.
