no kidding, that civic SI is crap, its been spat on by most of the car mags and other testing and review sources, not to mention, its fugly....youd be better off with a base model civic....for that matter, youd be better off not doing this at all!
whats the point of spending 18-20 grand on another car?? just to keep mileage of the CL??? is that going to even be remotely cost effective?? hell no, not in a million years.....its really a bad idea on every level.....the only way for having a second car to be cost effective is if its a 1,000 dollar beater....not another brand new car that will depreciate like shit and cost you monthly payments and insurance.

okay, then why does it have to be an Si? Why can't it be a lower end Civic?

It's tough for you guys to understand. I can't take my Acura to the city and park it on the street. I can't go to a club and not worry about someone putting a door ding in my car, cause it's happend already. i'm driving to the train station everyday, except mondays, where i drive into the city. 30 miles. I can't afford to have a car break down on me and leave me stuck in manhattan. do u know how much it costs to have your car towed from manhattan to long island. To where i can fix it at my house???

you make valid points, however what makes you think your CL-S has the reliability of a 1978 ford??? its gonna break down all the time?? what????
also, take a look at your post, why would you want a BRAND new car to use for parking in manhattan, not worrying about it, etc...thats foolish...
you should be looking to get like a 97 integra or something for 8 grand...not a POS new SI...
seriously, take a deep breath and think about your situation...buying the SI is a huge mistake.

I would drive both and check out insurance.

even still its a ridiculously moot point....used cars have GREAT reliability...like i said, he could get an integra (with 170 hp) for about 10 grand that has low miles and will be just as reliable as an ugly POS 18 grand new si!!
so what about financing..you can get 1.9% on a 17k loan or 6% on a 9k loan...who cares if youre finance rate is higher?!?!? you have 8 thousand less on your loan to begin with!
this whole idea is just totally a big mistake.

The SI would make a great city car. I've been considering a second car. A Spec-V is a foot longer, little bigger turning radius. It is hard to say what I would do. My front and rear bumpers show + rims some wear from parking downtown.
I would drive both and check out insurance.

An intergra that someone has beat the shit out of. Come on man, i 'm a kid(well, 22 years old and a full time job for the last 4 years.) I beat the shit out of my acura everytime i drive it. Now, if the integra is coming from some old lady, that just passed away, then i would jump. But the chances of that happening are like me hitting the lottery.

Interest paid on a 16,000 dollor loan at 1.9% is $784
Interest Paid on a 10,000 dollor loan at 10% is $2748
That's almost 2 grand savings and i don't have to fix the car. Don't have to worry about buying new tires, timing belts and other stuff.

I'm only trying to help, why don't you try looking for a lady-driven used car before you give up?

For the price the Si is REALLY not worth it. That's what we are ALL trying to tell you. You WILL be very disappointed w/ the 170hp that it produces. If you read the Sport Compact Car issue when they did a head to head w/ four other cars, the Si came in LAST!!!
If you want something fast, reliable, compact, that you wouldn't care too much about pick up a brand new regular RSX. It's around $19k, but probably negotiable.

still, this is a very very bad idea...hands down....just drive the CL....why spend 19 thousand dollars to feel "better parking it in the city" thats not worth 19 thousand dollars, think of it this way, you could spend 3 grand a year (this is a very high estimate) fixing minor door dings and scratches, etc on your CL-S or spend 19 grand on a new POS car that has been called an underdog in every category?!?!
very bad idea.
very bad idea.

if that car's silver is the same.
But for what it's worth:
Have you truly considered how much it'll cost? even if you get 1.8% financing over 5 years, you're talking $300 a month!
and add on insurance! Is it worth it?
I have a CL, and I live on Long island.
I park in parking lots or on the street when I go to NYC, which
is once every couple of weeks. I do not park in really bad areas though, and I'd probably avoid parking too close to clubs. If I was forced to I'd just park in a garage.
In the last year and a half I got one minor door ding - in boston!
I think you might be worrying too much.
