to hubcap or not to hubcap

Got the kumho K15's installed on 16" for the snow that is inbound (figures we have our warmest Nov 20th ever recorded), and now I see on the steel rim that the center nut is exposed on each wheel.

Is it better to put a hubcap on the steel rim to protect this part of the wheel from salt & road crud, or leave it expose so that snow and stuff doesn't get stuck behind it. What do you guys do?

TIA
MacG

I'm putting my snows on pretty soon - ran some Tire Rack hubcaps in the past, but am considering looking for some baby moons or something like small cop hubcaps to run this winter. Haven't looked hard yet, so don't know where to find them - J.C. Whitney used to have stuff like that, if they are still around. The baby moons would protect the center of the wheel, it seems.

If you find some of those "cop hubcaps" post where you found them. I would use those if I get steel wheels for snows. I'm hoping to get by with the stockers but if we get hit I'll probably get some Blizzaks on steel rims. I think those are also called "Dog dish" hubcaps. Can't stand those plastic hubcaps.

I have 16in avon Cr85 on my cls6... I don't put hubcaps because it's so much easier with just the wheel to take the snow off it.

I had a 2001 cl-s for the last 2 winters and with my first winter with the 2003 manual, I'm very curious to see how it will go without the traction control.

I live in montreal, canada

Checked JC Whitney and found no 'dust caps' or 'baby moons' that would work with the steel rims from Tire Rack, although JC did have some full moon hubcaps. I did successfully mount the 16" steel rims that I formerly ran on my RSX-S on my CL-S. Today, I bought some dust caps from Farm and Fleet that were spec'd for Ford trucks (2.5" size) - thought I was home free, but ultimately had to fix them in place with some silicone cement. The Cl-S looks kinda bad with the steel wheels and no hubcaps - I have some rather cheesy plastic hubcaps from Tire Rack, but may not run them this season.

Roady, which steal rims did you get from the tire rack. I've been looking into that this winter. I have a cl-s and wanted to get the clp 16's, but the guy told me it wouldn't work because the cl-s had bigger brakes. I told him he was wrong, but didn't believe me. I even asked about the tl steal rims and he still said it wouldn't work. I don't think he new anything.

I bought black steel wheels at a tire shop, that's it. My tires are avon cr85... 215-55-16.
So they are just standard wheels that could fit any car.
I don't hubcaps on it because they almost always look cheap... and snow can get under it... and it gives it a rugged winter kinda look... well I really miss my wheels during winter so I encourage myself by telling me that.
