21,500 for a 01 cl type s w navi?!?!

auto tranny, 35k miles on it...clean title, car fax checks out ok

im negotiating on behalf of my girlfriend with the sales mgr, he says he will do it out the door for 20, i laughed at him because just 3 months ago i bought a type s no navi out the door for 18k.
(not at that dealership)...

anyway, he goes he can sell that car for 23k, we walked out...

is anyone else seeing these type of prices for an 01?

I have an 01 CL with 36K and I was looking at a 2000 XJ8 they told me they would give me $15,000 for my car. Which I wasn't even expecting that. So a CLS with the same mileage is prob worth $16K

is it certified? cause if it is, remember that you are getting 12000 more miles of bumper to bumper that you wouldn't get from any other dealer. between 19 and 20 is fair. you may not like it, but from a dealer, thats the way it has to be. try to get some other value out of it. new tires, free services/ oil changes, updated navi disk etc.

From an Acura dealer i would go no higher then 19 to low 20's. Very low 20's.

This is entirely true.

$20K is fair market value. Anyone else throwing lower numbers around is talking wholesale---you will not pay wholesale at a dealership.

$20K is retail & is right in line with the NADA book sitting in my lap. Not to mention if it's a certified vehicle.

If the car is clean, buy it.

Do a search for a comparable model on carsdirect.com or autotrader.com.

I did a seach and saw a couple in my area for $17K (w/ 35K miles) and a couple at the local Acura dealership for about $21K.

You best deal might be at a non-acura dealer.

Depreciation has taken a dump on these cars (thanks to Acura discontinuing 'em), but I'm hoping it starts to level out in a couple of years. Heck, how much lower can the resale values go on the 2nd gens ??

Hopefully in a few years people will realize what a nice car the CL is and the resell values will level out. I don't think the CLS will ever be like the old legend 6spds (try finding on of those in good conditon cheap), but hopefully our cars will be worth something in the used car market.

I bought my Acura 'cause I wanted something that would retain some resale value Looks like it's a depreciation pig like my old FORD

Guess I'll have to drive my 6spd forever (like the ford, which I had for 9 years).

I just bought my 2001 CL-S with Navi, 29K miles, one owner from a lease. It was certified with two new Pilots, a complete 30K maint. service and a 7 year 100K extended warranty. 23K out the door. (Taxes, tags, everything.)

$21500 was right where I was, I even walked from the deal and came back to settle- the dealer wouldn't go any lower.

Get all service records
Make them do the complete 30K service
Take the new DVD

Buy it and drive the shit out of it

interesting...

some of you guys are saying that price is too high
some are saying that is right in line

i know geographical region has something to do with it...but even still, 2 to 3k for the same car depending on where you are seems crazy to me

01 CLS navi still inside warranty at 35k miles clearly around $23k since 15k miles left on warranty plus navi, assuming its mint condition. the sales mgr is not BSing you - he could sell it for $23k easy. $20k is a deal.

Honestly, I shopped for a long time for my CL-S. I live in the Balt-DC corridor, I had a wide geographic area to choose from. I was even shopping in PA for a while.

If it's certified, then it's a good deal.

People mentioning the lower prices are not talking about a CL purchased from an Acura dealer, so of course those prices will be lower. Buying a certified vehicle is like paying for an extended warranty, so the cost will naturally be a bit higher.

The navi is a $2,000 option, new, so in comparison to your car's price, it isn't much different.

Just FYI - It's worth about $400-600 on resale.

The big differences would be if it's Certified, if it's still in warranty, and/or its interior and exterior condition (and of course its history).
