Ok I plan on getting the Comptech Cold Air Intake, the "Ice Box," for my first mod. I was just wondering if it would make any difference in acceleration/speed? I mean, would I feel the difference in power a lot or only slightly? Also, what type of HP gain would I get (can't be more than 10, right?)?? I would appreciate any other information on this product also.

 

I couldn't really tell, and I had both spacers and Icebox installed at same time. A slight difference possibly but nothing significant.

 

I doubt you'll feel it, but it's about a 7-10 whp gain.

On every post like this, there's always one to say "search" well, I tried that and came up with nothing. When you search "Comptech Ice box" on here, you get a million things you're not looking for, but thanks for the advice Sometimes it just easier to talk with knowledgable people.

FYI- If you ask repeated questions, you'll be called a noob and be told to search. Its just the way it goes on this site.

Thanks again for the super advice , but my computer sucks and when i click the dyno page on the comptech site ( , i did try this beforehand too!!), it opens a "adobe 6.0" program whcih freezes my computer. Now that you all know too much about me, just answer these "noob" questions sometimes, unless its just some idiot asking a stupid question...

 

every question you could poassibly ask has been asked and ANSWERED. the resources are there for you to take ur time and find them. if your computer is slow - complain to someone who cares. in the mean time, just know that all the questions you have right now, are "stupid hackneyed questions"

Alright, let's keep this thread on topic. The Comptech Icebox is a great mod. It appears stock, has a deep throaty tone, and can be felt throughout the entire RPM band. You will not be pushed back in your seat but you will feel a slight gain.

I have a 03 smr cl-s and im thinking of going with the icebox....but seeing what you guys and the other THREADS have said i should also consider getting the headers and exhaust too....would it hurt if i got non comptech headers and exhaust with the icebox...any difference...

 

nope, you'll be fine. Ive got DC Sport headers and quite frankly, im glad that I saved the extra $800 bucks. Ive also got the Icebox and Comptech exhaust.

DC only came out with a header for AT CLs. The only option we have is to go with either Comptech headers or the SS Autochrome/XS Power ones they sell on Ebay. There's a whole post about them here-->Header Post.
